: Removing Edge, but what about Attitude
jwfab1 07-11-2005, 03:27 PM Has anyone had any problems taking there truck to the stealer with you Attitude monitor still in the truck? I know to remove the edge, but what about leaving the monitor in?
Or is everyone removing the attitude monitor also. I'd like to mount mine in the overhead console, but removal seems like it would be a pain in the but.

briano 07-11-2005, 03:30 PM I have the overhead attitude mount and have thought about the dealer thing...I'd hate to remove/install it time after time.. I was thinking of some type of magnetic cover to just stick over the attitude..black and just looks factory.. something like that.
lakingslayer 07-11-2005, 03:44 PM I kept the plastic holder that you cut out of the overhead console. I just remove the OH console, pull the attitude out and shove it back behind the plastic holder which I can put a couple of screws in to get to stay in place. 10minutes tops.
Dmax05 07-11-2005, 03:52 PM They told me that EDGE does not void your warranty...I got my center console latch replaced and EDGE was in plain view and not a word was said about it. If they hassel you just tell them it isnt working or you never use it and you should be good.
jwfab1 07-11-2005, 05:12 PM I can understand the console latch, Edge can't be blamed for that.
But as far as motor and tranny, or even electrical problems. The stealer is always looking for some OTHER reason to blame for your breadkowns. And another reason to cop out on the repairs.
Anyone else have any problems or remedies.

Just be safe and take it out or hide very good like lakingslayer said. Edge even spells out in their manual to remove it for stealer trips. Unless you are one for gambling, and want to risk some very costly repairs - like say injectors or whatever. There are several posts about this and some even with the costs of various repairs. Just remember, they have to prove it was the power adder, but they have much more money and can hold out longer than you if your truck is down.
05chev 07-18-2005, 01:46 AM hello everyone, i just traded in my 05 f250 for an 05 duramax and i am very pleased with it , mileage is about the same but i think the 6.0 might of had a little more power exept for the take off was very slugish., i was thinking about getting a chip or a power programer for the duramax but i dont want to void my warranty, do you guys know if the chips or programers leave any traces on the computer showing that a chip was installed? i know on the fords the stealership would know if you had ran a chip and then removed it before taking it in for repairs
05chev 07-18-2005, 07:37 PM does anyone have an ansewr to the question above?
briano 07-18-2005, 09:10 PM yes they can tell
jwfab1 07-18-2005, 09:14 PM Does this also apply to the Egde?

Prolly should start yer own thread........ What you are doing is called hi-jacking......
Just friendly advice
Lawnboy 07-19-2005, 11:39 AM Totally related Biterman, not a hi-jack.
This thread is about preventing dealer from discovering evidence of power enhancing devices. Whether they are physical (attitude) or software trails.
JamieMax 07-19-2005, 02:03 PM Cummins ford and chevy can all tell if you've been grossly overfueling your engine...whether they do anything about it or not is a different story. If you somehow frag your engine, you better be in good with your service dept...otherwise good luck getting it all warrantied.
05chev 07-20-2005, 02:08 AM what if one would replace the original stock ecm with a bran new one before installing a chip then if anything ever happend all you would have to do is reinstall the original ecm with no memory of any chip?
05chev 07-20-2005, 03:25 PM does anyone have any input on the question above ?
Lawnboy 07-20-2005, 07:59 PM Do you have any idea how expensive ECM's are?
lakingslayer 07-20-2005, 08:30 PM There is probably going to be some discrepencies with the data that the ECM takes if you swap them out. There will be a large gap in the dates of some of the records.
Also I'm not sure where the OD data is stored but that also may be a problem with swapping them.

do you have any idea how much a new motor or tranny cost?

Hey 05chev, you asked for input right?
If you can get one at a good price, go for it.

Those Chevy's are at the dealer THAT much huh?
bricklef 07-31-2005, 10:09 PM Some of those service managers don't really care and aren't going to rat you out to Uncle GM. I talked to my dealer and he said that as long as whatever is wrong with the truck doesn't have to get looked at by the GM boys, they don't care and I can leave the programmer on it.
