Hey everyone,
I'm a new member here. I have a 2001 Chevy 2500HD 4x4(Duramax/Allison) and I am looking for a repair manual. This is my first diesel truck. Anyway, who makes repair manuals for my truck? How much are they and where can I buy one? I would really like a good thorough GM shop manual rather than some Haynes or Chiltons.
Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the DieselPlace

Helms (http://www.helminc.com/helm/homepage.asp?r=http://search.yahoo.com/search?ei=utf-8&fr=slv1-&p=Helms) Is about the best IMO.

Is this (http://www.helminc.com/helm/product2.asp?class%5F2=CHV&mk=Chevrolet+%26+Geo&yr=2001&md=Silverado&dt=&module=&from=result&Style=helm&Sku=GMT01CK8&itemtype=N&mscsid=VFR1150FMGRW9HDPK9P1PNRXV0L15NQ0) the right manual? It doesn't say anything about diesel in the description.

That's the number on my manuals that I have from Helm...there are 5 volumes for the 135 bucks. Also, volume 4 of 5 is the "Engine" manual which includes the 4.8, 5.3, 6.0, 6.6 and 8.1 (the 6.6 is the DMAX). It also includes the Allison in the transmissions section. There was also a download for the Allison transmission manual, but that was so long ago I don't remember where I got it from.
