As far as ATS or Suncoast is one better than the other, or does one have an edge over the other? Just curious what drives everyone decision on which one to get.

Also what is your average out of pocket cost for just the tranny. Suncoast says 4300 on their site, but is the cost of the core included in that?

I'm going to go pop some popcorn and get some beer.:drinking:

Do a search. There is a lot of reading about both. I say you can't go wrong with either one IMHO. Whatever you do get a larger tranny upgrade than you think you need now.

Either company will make you happy. You can't go wrong whichever decision you make between the two.

It seemed that both are extremely reputable. I feel like a moron for asking, but if the price shows 4300 and says it has a 1200 core, does that mean I pay 5500 and they refund the 1200 when they get the tranny back from me?

Yes that is how a core charge works.

As long as it is a good core...

I don't know anything about the suncoast but I highly recommend the complete ats and copilot, it rocks.

The ATS handles the big power better and is in the fastest Duramax!
I have found the ATS to be very tame and drivable on the street. But when you want the shifts to be lightning fast just click on the Co-pilot and hang on.

Most 500 hundred HP Duramaxes if not all equipped with a Suncoast (they ALL wont come forward for ?) have installed a ATS Co-Pilot.Some even under that plateau.

I have had both and prior to my problems the Suncoast was good but not as good as the ATS in shift quality for every day driving.

I am quite surprised of the differences of out of the box transmissions.ATS has been dedicated to making the Allison superior. They are still developing products today to keep us competitive and winning. :thumb:

Good luck which ever you chose.

Mackin - Who has the fastest Duramax? What times are they turning? Are they on nitros/propane? Are they really competitive with the Dodges?

Since you've switched to the ATS/Co-pilot what improvements did you realize on your 1/4 mile times? Sorry for all the questions--but I've just got to know. Thanks:)

I have no data for you to compare on the Suncoast as it failed in practice
But this I'll tell you is the ATS shifts cleaner and faster, you can come to your own conclusion. ;)
