Does anyone know if we will have the option of getting the 4.10 gear in the new 06 models if you order them from the factory. I know you can't get it in the 05's. I ask because I am planning on ordering an 06 and lifting it 6" with 35's and would like to save the time and money of a gear swap.

Thanks

You won't need a gear swap for 35s. You may want a programmer but even in stock programming there is plenty of power on hand. I started with 36s on my truck and was very pleased before the juice. Add some goodies and your friends will say its more fun than a carnival ride.):h

Buying a truck *with* 4.10's will not rule out having to do a gear change with 35's - IF you want to keep proper final drive ratio that is. Or, say you bought a truck with 3.73's and 245/75 tires and switched out to 35's, simply putting in 4.10's wouldn't be enough to get back to proper final drive ratio - or the way it was from factory.

From http://www.offroaders.com/info/tech-corner/reading/mph-rpm.htm

If your new 35-inch rubber is just what you want, but you now need to restore your vehicle’s low-end, the following formula will allow you to determine what gear set (equivalent) ratio should be installed to compensate:

new tire diameter x original ratio
Old tire diameter........................= Equivalent Ratio

So...... if you have 245/75-16 which are 30.5" and 4:10 gears and go to 35" tires, you'd need something around a 4.70 gear to have final drive ratio back like it was stock.

New tire diameter x original ratio.....35 x 4.10.....143.5
Old tire diameter...............................30.5...... 30.5.............4.70 gear ratio

Thats typically true with a 1:1 final drive ratio. O/D with the new Allison is something like .60.
