I *hate* where they put it on the 8.1 I don't like it draining all over the u joint, it is hard to get any sort of tool up there to remove the stupid thing, and it is hard for me to tell if I put on the new one tight enough.
I'm starting to look around for an oil filter relocation kit. I know they will leak after a while, but I think I'd rather put up with that.
Any good kits or companies anyone know of? What size thread is the oil filter?
With a relocation kit I then want to be able to run a larger oil filter instead of that little dinky OEM one.

I too have considered an oil filter relocation kit but haven't done it yet since I haven't spent the time to find a good place to put it that isn't too far away from the original location and is protected. I use a large baggie over the filter when removing it to keep the oil off the u-joint. The oil filter only needs to be hand tight (with the o-ring lubricated).

I did find a company that makes a kit- Trans Dapt... looks like the thread of the oil filter is a 13/16"-16. The kit comes with some sort of rubber pressure hose. With the exhaust being so close I'd want to wrap it in some sort of heat shield, or get some metal braided lines.
I didn't spend a whole lot of time looking around for a new place to mount it. I did notice directly back from the filter (maybe about 14" or so) there is a removable panel on the floor pan of the truck. I thought about removing that panel to drill it out and mount the filter onto it.

Do you have any pics of this? Post some when you get a chance if you could.

I too would like to see a photo. I have done a couple searches lately for an 8.1 bypass set up and came up with squat.
