Found a Truck I'm looking to pick up, 01 LB7 with 136k miles on it. They're asking 13,900 and it needs all 8 injectors. I see the price and laugh in their face with that kind of diagnosis. What kind of money if you were buying to knock off the price? I figure i can soak them down 4kish and do the job myself with a friend and make out on the deal. Any insight?

It must be in great shape for them to be asking that kind of money for it!

13,900 would be a decent price if it didnt need injectors... i would say 8 grand or so at most.

If its at a GM dealer, have them do the injectors and offer them $10,500.

Im going to take a peek at it saturday, seems to be in awesome shape, and it is indeed at a GM dealer, however they're not going to replace them. I dont think they have a confident diesel tech which is understandable. I can do them myself with my friend who is diesel tech but i was just looking for some reassurance and some ammunition to back up my offer when I go in there. Ill show them this post and see what they say :D

Thanks again for your replies and pm's with help. I hope i can scoop this truck up cheap. :)

At least they are being honest in disclosing that it needs injectors ..

A comparison. Just this week I bought a 2001, 2wd, CC, LB with 6" and 315's. The truck is in near showroom condition, 146,000 miles. I paid 10,000.00 and, since the injectors were done at 50K, budgeted to redo the injectors this next year if needed.

Get the KBB value and deduct about $ 4000. Head gaskets are probably next...

For that kind of money I would go over it for any problems. Body has no rust, Tires are good, brakes are good, does the e brake work, tight front end ect or bring it to a shop to check it over. I got my 2002 for $9200 in December of 2008 and its a 4wd and it had 160,000. It had some dents from the last owner and I put on 4 tires and a ebrake. That being said I would find the blue book and take off $3000 if everything else is in great shape, if not I would say walk and wait. You might low ball them by waiting for another month. Our local Chevy dealer has told me that they auction off any thing that old needing more than $1,000 in work. Good luck.
