Last night after a stop at the local market, I hopped in the truck, turned the key, engine started and the stereo (in CD mode) made a noise, just long enough to get my attention and look over. Must have only been a fraction of a second because when I looked over I saw that the display was up showing the correct time. The display then went dark for a second or two and when it came back on the time had reset to 12:00 and the CD started to play. Infact it may have tried to kick the CD out when if first failed, I cannot remember. Truck was running the whole time, no other problems noted, alternator reading above 14v no other dash lights on. Any ideas?

Batteries going bad?

Did the HU work ok after that?

I just had a similar problem. check for a loose battery terminal. my + was really loose

I take a look at the batteries, they look brand new, only had the truck a couple of months now. Radio seems to be working fine now.

did you check the connections?
