So I am about to change out the Dexcool and this time would like to change all the hoses that are under pressure, truck is coming up on 6 years and I tow heavy, so I like to do preventative measures to ensure smooth trips. Anybody use the OEM hoses from GM or are you going aftermarket with Gates or Goodyear or whatever. Any info would be appreciated.

I've thought about the same thing. My units original hoses seem in pretty good shape but as you say, 6 years and even tires need changing out after that period of time. Believe the OEM hoses back then were made in Brazil. Don't know if that makes much difference or whethere they are better or worse than domestic manufacture.

Mine are still factory too, but when mine are done it will be aftermarket and like you said probably gates.

I have used NAPA with good luck. All of the brands listed above should be good also. GM, Gates, NAPA, Goodyear, etc.

The hoses on my 2002, (which has 118K miles), seem to be in decent shape yet. I also like to replace wear items before they fail in the wrong place / wrong time.
I'm thinking my original water pump could go in a year or three, and that would be a nice time to replace ALL hoses, and coolant.

Thanks for the tip on Rock Auto. Prices comparable or cheaper than GM Parts Direct, but their shipping is WAYYYY cheaper!!

A fews years ago I replaced all of my hoses. I wanted the GoodYear Hi-Miler hoses like I put on my 96 chevy caprice (the blue ones), but they didn't make them for the Duramax. I went with the Gates hoses. I also stayed with new Dexcool coolant, and replaced the radiator cap.

OnEdit: If you can find someone who will make you a set of silicone hoses you will be set for the life of the vehicle, but they ain't cheap. GM put these hoses (the green ones) on their 9C1 cop cars (Caprice) and they never wear out.

Well, I ordered ACDelco hoses online and they arrived this week. They are made in the USA and on the lower hose with the tee fittings and smaller hoses that branch off, the actual tees are marked GATES. Just letting people know, they might as well order the slightly less expensive GATES hoses, since that must be where ACDelco is getting them.
