I just installed my juice w/attitude, mbrp kitty back 4" exhaust and an AFE intake on my 05 CC D/A combo. I have yet to set the juice higher than #2 for fear of trans slip mode. What are the "upgrades to the tranny" that i must make to use the juice to its fullest? I am new to the diesel world and dont wanna make myself any headaches... I've seen the posts that you must upgrade the trans or its a "matter of time" but what upgrades are needed to be safe? Thanks in advance for all the info......

A minimum tranny upgrade to hold the juice is a tripple disc converter and a Transgo shift kit. If you are going to go that far it's probably worth getting a SC level III or an ATS Stage III tranny kit installed since they have to pull the tranny anyway.

I know the level III kits are expensive but how hard are they to install? I have no problem taking the trans. out. Are the kits "do-able" yourself? Or roughly how much would they cost to have them installed?

I installed mine myself, I paid a shop with a lift to R&R the tranny, I didn't want to pull it in my driveway or in my garage laying on my back............
Mike L or dmaxallitech will both help you........and if you are close enough , drive to CA to see Mike or MI to see ERIC ( dmaxallitech ).
I built a metal adapter to bolt to the PTO cover and then mount it to an engine stand to hold it for rebuiiding......check my "PICS" link if you want to see any pictures.
The SC-III has been holding fine......If I could offer some sound advice here.........depending on what you plan on doing, forget you have any self control, get as much tranny as you can afford and if you can't afford it wait until you can..........I have enough for now, but that could change real quick once NOS is added..........
Lot's of reading in the Aliison threads........most, not all guys that have run big tunes see the value in having an ATS Co-Pilot.......not to knock a Suncoast, it just depends on what you want........I had a SC-III for over a year now and liked it, but it is quite different once you turn that co-pilot on..........:exactly:
Make your own informed decision and GOOD LUCK
As far as installed prices they usually quote the whole job, kit, R&R, fluid, etc.......the web sites list the prices for the kits, etc.

I did my level IV myself, including R&R. Brother, with lift and tools, helped (more like I helped him). A whole lot easier than I expected.
Did a lot of consulting with Mike and Eric before deciding, as well as checking the quality of experience that other DIY installs had been (including, Tony, aobve).
Borrowed an adapter to mount it to an engine stand (thanks again Tony!) to make our life easier while we worked on it. Allison is heavy.
Went with level IV, rather than III, as it was not much more $$$, and as everyone says, overbuild, as you don't know what you will get sucked into in the future. No sense having to build it again a little later down the road.
I would do it again.

Where is this Mike guy located in Cali? I am in Iraq right now and just bought an 01' I already have the exh/intake/hypertech III. I plan on getting a trans upgrade, big head wastegate, "hot juice," and h2o Meth.
I only have 2 weeks to put this in on leave before driving it back to Georgia. I can pull the trans myself but may need assistance w/ the kit installation.

It is only a 5 hour trip to Mike L. He is in Inglewood (sheep capital of the world). LOL
I will be down there next week having the new tranny cooler put in.
If you talk nice to him he might even put on his frilly red dress..................
