turbo lcc 07-10-2005, 11:34 PM I really like the way it sounds.
GMC2500HD 07-10-2005, 11:35 PM Cool, what made you decide to go with MTX subs? Just curious.. Most people I know are running JL Audio and other name brand subs..
NorCal 2500HD 07-11-2005, 12:56 AM Can you do me a HUGE favor and take a pic of that setup with the rear part of the seat folded down please.....I was going to buy that box but decided on a behind the seat type from another member on here........might be selling it and was interested in the same one you got. thanks
BullydogPowered 07-11-2005, 07:49 AM nice, clean install Turbo

I have a buddy that got me a really good price on them. I may upgrade them but for now they sound good to me :)
Nice looking job, where did you go thru the firewall...

I didnt if you look at the sideways pix. I came in via the door wiring.
motovet 07-11-2005, 01:31 PM Don't run em too long parked with the Delcos.....I had to go with the Yellow tops soon after my install.

See now your scearing me :D
Thanks, you know I looked at that and could not figure out what it was....appreciate the clarification....
BullydogPowered 07-11-2005, 07:57 PM Motovet is right, Turbo. The Delcos are the absolute worst batteries when they get heavier drain than factory, i went through 2 sets in 2 months with my 6.5 diesel. When they fail get anything other than Delcos
turbo lcc 07-11-2005, 09:20 PM Motovet, BullydogPowered
Thanks for the Advice guys I guess I will start lookin at new batteries. What kinda of symptoms did you guys see when the batteries went south?
dozerboy 07-12-2005, 12:00 AM My gf has a Delco it lasted at least the 2 years she has had her car with 800w RMS and it just went bad in her Sunfire.
motovet 07-12-2005, 02:54 AM Mine were still in fair shape, but would drain real fast with the JL's unless the truck was running. I didn't stick with the Delcos long enough to find out if they would have puked completely though.
BullydogPowered 07-12-2005, 07:52 AM mine just dropped dead, no symptoms glad i had a cell. they can be jumped but will die QUICK again. To be fair i had 3500 watts worth of amps on them ):h on the plus side the 145 amp alternator will help with that the one in my 6.5 was a 105
hazmat91180 07-15-2005, 10:25 AM how EXACTLY did you mount the amp on the back wall? Type of screws? Glue? Baseboard (though I don't see one) ??
This is the only thing that has my install hung up, trying not to penatrate that back wall.. Doesn't look thick enough for self tapping screws.
I need to get 2 Amps and a CD changer back there.
:help:
bulitnv 07-15-2005, 03:58 PM Take out that upper plastic piece and mount your amps there, you will not penetrate the back wall that way, besides that plastic piece will rattle like crazy if you do not remove it.

Mount with what?
turbo lcc 07-18-2005, 09:00 AM Mount with what?
I used 2 pieces of 1" wide aluminum about 6" long. They are mouned under the plastic cover via selftapping screws. If you closely at the picture of the amp you can see the side of the aluminum.
Hope this helps
Lynn
hazmat91180 07-18-2005, 10:07 AM any rattle effect as was noted earlier/?
turbo lcc 07-18-2005, 11:30 AM not on mine.. you can't even move the amp.
hazmat91180 07-18-2005, 11:48 AM I really like your set up, if you have any other (closer) pics that would be huge, if not that is :cool2:.
bulitnv 07-18-2005, 12:52 PM Didn't your screws go through the back of your truck? Very thin backwall, I would think that the tips of the screw would be poking through the back........

EXACTLY, why I was asking for more detail.
hjrichan 07-18-2005, 01:18 PM Does anyone have pictures of the rear seat when it's folded down? (with this sub box)
:help: :help: :help:
Once in a while I need to fold the seats down to haul stuff and would like to see how it looks when or if it can be folded down all or most of the way down. Thanks if you can

The seat will not lay all the way down with that box in.
bulitnv 07-18-2005, 01:38 PM I just mounted my amps to the upper part, right below the rear window. There are 2 pieces of metal up there, about 2-3 inches apart, so you can mount amps without tapping the screws through the back of the truck. I just took that plastic upper off. When the seats go back you can't even tell that it is gone.

I bought a Probox behind the seat box that holds two 10's and it works really good. I can fold the seats flat and use them as normal.

come on, someone please!!! What type of screws how large, other alternatives?
turbo lcc 07-19-2005, 02:26 PM Remove the plastic trim below your rear window. The metal here is double walled and comes out toward the front of the truck. You can see that it will not punch a hole in the rear wall. What I did was take a piece of thin metal and bent it to wrap around the rear wall and fits under the plastic trim. Make sure it extends down far enough to support the AMP. I can try to get you pix of what I did but it will be this weekend at the soonest.

hazmat91180 07-20-2005, 09:12 AM yeah that would be cool, it is just once you puncture you cannot go back ya know? PICS sound good.
REDMAN00 07-22-2005, 12:00 PM Turbo,
Can you take picture with the seat folded down to show how far it will fold with the box? Thanks.
AndrewFessler 07-27-2005, 12:26 AM Ok, all you that keep asking for photos of how far the seats can fold down, check out my write up at: http://duramax.onlinedesk.net/subwoofer
The seats do not fold down to a usable level. However, it is so easy to yank the box out for the times you may need to fold them down, you might want to go ahead with a downfire box, as the quality of sound will be soo much better with a downfire, than with a behind the seat box. (I had behind the seat box initially.)
Hope this answers the questions.
