: help with my head lights brighter low beam
66impala 06-06-2010, 12:55 AM ok this is what i have. 06 chevy 3500 d/a cc drw. on my low bean i see a cover over the light bulb thats about 2 inches long. i was wanting to know if i break it off will it make my lights brighter the low beam. its like the cover is resticking the bright ness of the light bulb. i do alot of driving at night so was wanting to know if it will help. deer for some reason like my truck more than the other guys. doesn't matter if hes in front or back there hitting my truck more than any one else.
mtnbike4522 06-06-2010, 05:46 PM you will blind everybody if you break that off.
you could do the "all on mod" if you are looking for more light power
or you could just get HIDs. (which will blind everybody also, lol)
this is a pic with my hids on

Yeah, it would be like having your high beams on all the time. Get HID's and do the all on headlight mod. You won't blind everyone and you will have awesome visibility.
66impala 06-07-2010, 12:17 AM i do have the fogs and low beams when i hit the highs on. but im trying to fined something when im on the highway. and other car and truck are around.
SAYWHAT 06-07-2010, 09:11 AM There aint a whole lot you can do without blinding on comeing traffic.Adjust your low beams up a bit, maybe some silverstars. The fools with there fog lights need to be whacked aside the head.Meeting constant oncoming traffic in heavy deer country is a real gamble.I run a stretch every Monday in the dark,a lot of very close calls.
6matt9 06-08-2010, 11:18 AM id say invest in a ranchhand full replacement for your situation!!! no real good solution here. HIDs are soo bright you have to adjust them down to keep blindin everyone else and cutting the tab will do nothing for brightness.
66impala 06-13-2010, 12:09 AM i got some LED projector lights coming paid $175. for both sides and turns too.double the lights.
steakman 06-14-2010, 09:31 AM ...or you could just get HIDs. (which will blind everybody also, lol)...
HID's, if properly installed in Projector headlamps will not blind anyone. Correct type of Headlamp is the key...the Morons that stick these bulbs in standard headlamps are the issue..! and yea..they most certainly do blind everyone.!
I would suggest you do the all on mod..and if that is not enough maybe add some driving lights. I too have deer and moose issues...I prefer to see them from a long way away if possible.
Cheers,
Theo
lilweeds 06-15-2010, 08:10 AM HIR bulbs work well, but aren't cheap.

That's where I was gonna go... thanks for bringing 'em up. I use HIR's... with Silverstar's in the fog lamps. That plus the all headlights on mod and I CAN see the countryside at night. And yeah, I qualify for a slap up side the head, 'cause I do typically drive with my fogs on. With the Silverstars in there, they are bright.
HIR's are attractive because they don't require any other modifications... and the low beams are something like 70-80% brighter than stock and the highs are around 120% brighter than stock. Combine that with the all headlights on mod and it's amazing. Highs, lows, and fogs all on at once. Nice :thumb: You do have to trim the base of the bulbs... but that's no more than 1 minute per bulb with a Dremel... and it's very easy.
HIR's aren't all that expensive... little more than Silverstars and they last a whole lot longer. I've been running on HIR's for going on 2 years now... and during the same time, I've had to replace 3 Silverstars in my fogs.

Properly aimed, HID's aren't blinding unless you look directly at them (even projectors are if you look directly at them). I have only been flashed once, but that was because my driver's side headlight was pointing up when I first got the HID's. Fixed now, and no problems.
Projectors are great, don't get me wrong, but you don't necessarily need them.
Maine Towing 06-23-2010, 11:13 PM Ok - so where does one get the "All on Mod" - is it a re-flash or an install item?
mtnbike4522 06-23-2010, 11:32 PM radio shack..
its just a few diodes you install.
i dont remember what thread it was in, but there is several on this forum telling you how to do it
n5lfh 06-24-2010, 04:56 AM I think Painless Performance makes a harness for all on if you want the commercial look.

Click the "All headlights on mod" link in my sig... it'll take you right to the thread. It costs maybe $2.00 and takes maybe 10 minutes... maybe less. Worth every penny and every minute. Heck, if you have the diodes laying around or if you have access to them elsewhere, the actual cost is more like $0.30 total... including some shrink-wrap tubing.

X2. Its really easy and worth it for alot more light.
callie454 06-26-2010, 05:06 PM I've got HIR highs and lows, with HIR highs in the fog lights. Visibility is no longer an issue.:evillol:

You should add the All Headlights On mod... with some Silverstars in the fogs...:cool:
I see you have HIRs in your fogs?? Which number did you use?

I see you have HIRs in your fogs?? Which number did you use?I'm using HIR 9011s for the highs and fogs. Here's the info - http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3621010&postcount=2
For the record, the light output of just my lows+fogs makes the all-on mod unecessary...at least for me. If I lived in the country, I'd do it for sure.
