Does anyone know if they are interchangable? I need a new alternator, and looking at a couple places online, they list both a 105 and a 145 for the Duramax. The 145 seems to be running $10 cheaper. Mine has a 105 in it now, would it be ok to go to the 145? Thanks.

It's ok.
The 145 amp came in trucks equipped with the plow package.
Should bolt right in place of your 105.
Only thing you might have to change is the fusable link. I don't know what the 105 is rated for or if the 145 might burn it up if you have that high of a load.

Picked up an 145A from an upbuilder (elkhart IN?) off of ebay for $65 plus shipping. I use it in addition to my stock 105A.

You will also need a new serpentine belt as the alternator is physically bigger which moves the pulley further from the center of the engine.

Correct! There are different part #'s for the serp belts for the 105, 145 and dual alts. There are also part #'s for a 105 with air (smog?) pump and a 145 with air pump.....5 different choices on the belt......
