I powdercoated mine, and it's a bad idea. Apparently the wheels are "hubcentric" whatever that means. The result is that they can't be balanced properly without grinding off the powdercoating from the center of the wheels. After grinding, the powdercoating will peel off from the edges according to the tire store. Just thought I'd let anyone who is considering this know what happened to me.

If properly coated the powder should not peel off of the wheel even if you do have to grind off the part where the hub goes. At least this is what I've gathered from talking to a guy in the powdercoating industry. Be careful grinding though, make sure you don't grind off any metal because it's hubcentric it may not center properly after you're done.

Edit: Hubcentric means that the wheel is "located" using the hub and not the lug nuts. This is why the center of the wheel is such a tight fit on the hub.

have the powder comapny put the "plug" in the hub centric location so the powder wont hit it or adhear to it when applying, they do it to the threaded areas
