: NO Mobil 1 ATF in California?!?

I did the total exchange method explained elsewhere and went with Mobil 1 ATF at 25,000 miles. Dumped the pan and refilled with Mobil 1 at 50 and 75. She's running fine at 100K but it's that time again. NO MOBIL 1 ANYWHERE IN TOWN.

I asked a guy at Kragen and was told that Mobil 1 is no longer allowed in California due to the labeling on the bottle.

Can anyone confirm or deny this? I'm in San Diego County. I could use a pointer to about 8 or 10 quarts of the stuff or a supported vendor.

In the event that I can't get my hands on it. Can I mix Transynd with the Mobil or should I do a complete change over?

Thanks.

I go to the local Mobil distributor. Like the place with the big tanks and trucks that deliver. You can walk right in and order whatever you want. A case of 4 one-gallon jugs was $128.

I also buy the Delvac-1 5/40 in the same manner. It's just easier that way. Look in the phone book for your local dealer/distributorship. Hell, they'll get you a 55 gallon drum, if you want it.

Get Delvac ATF at your big truck oil supplier:

Thanks guys, No distributors within 100 miles of San Diego. No cargo terminal at our port so, not much commercial trucking. There's not a Pilot, Flying J or TA (or a job for that mater) within a hundred miles either. However, if you need a fish taco, we got you covered.

Mobil 1 ATF is a C-4 synthetic ATF, but not a TES 295 fluid. Allison no longer recommends C-4 fluids for some applications. Mobil DELVAC is also a synthetic ATF and is TES 295 certified by Allison. Mobil ATF D/M is recommended for the Allison as a TES 389 fluid and DEX III replacement. Mobil ATF DEX VI is recommended for DEX VI applications.

Same thing that happened to Amsoil back in March 2009. You may mix Amsoil with your Mobil 1 they are both group 4 base stock and comaptible.

Let me know if I can help you.

Not sure how far you're willing to drive but there is a Flying J and a TA in the Coachella Valley (Palm Springs). The Flying J is off I-10/Ramon Rd. and the TA is off I-10/Dillon Rd., there is also a Love's there across from the TA. I think if you check their websites you might find one closer. Hope this helps and good luck.

P.S. Not sure what products any of those places keeps in stock so you might want to call first if you're thinking of making the drive. My .02

Well, searched some other boards and every auto parts store I could find in San Diego county. Mobil 1 is indeed outlawed in the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia. It's either a labeling problem or high VOC's depending on who you talk to. I have agents in other states (dad in AZ and Son in NM) looking. A reputable dealer probably wouldn't knowingly ship it in. If you're a less than reputable dealer that will, let me know!

Now that I know California doesn't want me to have it. I gotta have. Even if I have to drive to Yuma. Seriously, you can buy all the pot you want with a fake note from a "doctor" but transmission fluid? Verboten! Please.

No sense in speding money and time driving somewhere far away when you can switch brands to something that will work and cost about the same and have it shipped to your door, just my opinion.

Well,,,,,,

#1. Not to be rude but, ask any question about a lubricant and an Amsoil dealer will pop out of the woodwork and push their product. It's off-putting to me so, thanks, but no thanks.

#2. My transmission has 100,000 miles on it and works perfectly. I'd like it to keep on working perfectly for as long as possible so, I don't want to change anything. Even if it's "compatible," "recommended" or even "Superior." This is the first of the ten or so transmissions I've owned, manual or automatic to pass the 70,000 mile mark in factory form.

#3. Experience has taught me that the Apparatchiks in this state's government do not have my best interests at heart. Therefore, if they outlaw something that has been working, that thing must be the best there is.

#4. Pissing off Kalifornia is sport for me. I have the time and funds to play that game and I enjoy a road trip. So you see, "sense" doesn't come into play in my world.

#5. I'd like to participate in the Arizona BUYcot if possible anyway.

No rudeness taken at all.

That is cool with me and BTW I never mentioned buying Amsoil. Just because I am an Amsoil dealer I guess its assumed that I am selling in any post I make.

I just didn't see the sense in driving a long distance like others have mentioned to you when you could sit at home and possibly order the M1 fluid you want from somebody online (if they will ship it here) and have it shipped to your door or change to a brand that would do the same thing (any brand you choose). :beerchug:

Now that you have explained your reasoning I am all about reasons 2-5 and onboard with anything that goes against the Kamifornia government crap we have to put up with. Reason #1 in my opinion is commentary and jumping to conclusions because it was me that posted.........but still valid because its your opinion and that counts for something in my book. :thumb:
