Could someone fill in exactly *what* applications each transfer case went into? We have a small fleet of all GM 4x4 vehicles, and I'd like to hedge my bet and be proactive on this little "surprise" that GM sold us...and, my local parts store buddies are curious as well, as they own GM vehicles, and the more they know the better parts guys they are.

236 =
246 = ??8.1L w/4L80e w/Autotrac (Suburban and Avalanche)??
261 = Duramax w/manual 4x4
263 = Duramax w/pushbutton 4x4

261xhd (manual) and 263xhd (push-button) are behind the Allison-equipped trucks.

The 246 is behind the Suburban/YukonXL, Avalanche (6.0/8.1) the 1500HD(Most if not all years) and IIRC 1500 4x4's as well. It's easy to tell a 246 equipped truck because they all have the Auto 4WD button along with the 2Hi, 4Hi and 4Lo buttons.
