Just curious, does anyone know how many 2011s roll off the Flint assembly line each day?

I spoke with my dealer's truck sales manager today, and he said the diesels won't start shipping until the end of the month. He also said that diesels currently account for only 20% of total truck production right now, and all of them are being "bayed" for now. He goes on to say that every 5th diesel produced is pulled from the line for an in-depth QC. All diesel trucks are held for now in case a problem is found and all trucks need repaired. He claims that GM "insiders" think that Ford is taking the cost of the new emissions requirements and spreading it out over ALL trucks, not just the diesel. So, that's why pricing has been so delayed. GM wanted to make sure their pricing was in line with Ford's, which has already been mentioned multiple times. He also said that the initial pricing may change in the middle of the 2011 MY, depending on what Ford does. He said that if you already have an order submitted as sold, it should get you the "old" pricing (assuming it changes). He thinks trucks will start hitting the lots in the middle-to-latter part of July. With all of that said, it's all speculation.

Very interesting story. If it is true, there must be a HUGE storage yard at Flint, because it would have to hold thousands of trucks. Doesn't seem like a sensible strategy for GM to build trucks, pay the suppliers for all the parts, and then not ship the trucks to dealers. Imagine the carrying costs !!! I think it would be helpful if another source can confirm the story because it contradicts the story from my local dealer who claims he should have a diesel by mid June, and that's in Canada.

I bet we see them on the lots within 2 weeks.

Not saying the story is true or false, but it is not unheard of for GM to hold a new product until it fully passes QC. They did recently when the camaro's came out. That beats having to do a public recall if anything needs to be changed. I'd rather they got it right before releasing.

You never know what to believe, but it's feasible. He even mentioned the trucks being held like the Camaros were. I'm just going to sit back and wait for a call that the truck is on a truck. I'm not in any hurry.

The last I heard from the dealer I was talking to said the same thing. The trucks will be out in late July at the latest. And QC must pass better then the camaro. Otherwise everything is going as planned. Thats what he said to me.

IMHO the new 3500 HD looks badars. I like the new styling of the trucks!

So, even if they're storing them all in a yard somewhere, I'm still wondering how many have been rolling off the line every day since they started production on May 23rd?

I am in no hurry as well, my lly is running good and the people buying agreed to wait until my lml is here to pick it up so I guess that works for me!!

The yards are huge. I used to work at the lansing grand river plant and we held the 08 CTS STS for a month or so during the summer of 07. During this time many CTS went under the knife for QC
