To be honest.. How are you driving on level 4? I have heard from Edge that level 4 is fine for a stock tranny, if you drive normal in that level. If you are doing wot every second your are on borrowed time...

I like to get into the throttle my fair share but I don't go WOT at every stoplight or anything like that. I have been leaving it on level 4 because it seems to get the best highway mileage. (hand calculated)

I go back and forth between 3 and 4.

Apparently level 3 does not turn the EGR off, just the codes...keep that in mind...

I bought an Edge Juice w/ attitude the week after I bought my '05 GMC CCSB. About two years ago I sent it back to Edge for the Hot unlock upgrade. Man does that thing smoke now when you turn it up to level 5. Smokes so bad that I just never use level 5. It is my daily driver and I always run it on level 4. I know the trans can't handle much abuse at that level so I really try to baby it. I don't tow and the truck still only has about 37k miles on it. Even though I drive it pretty easy I still managed to limp it two or three times. Two months ago I took it to Mike L. for a stage IV trans kit. He showed me the old clutches and they were burned up pretty good. The truck drives completely different now. Trans upgrade isn't cheap, but, definately worth every penny. Thanks again Mike.

The juice with attitude is totally different & has different tuning.. What is the hp in 05 for your 5 speed tranny? The juice actual has safety feature that should be helping you. You must have had some fun with that to, eh? I know my 06 did not like level 4 at all. I would run level 2 for towing & level 3 for fun & level 6 for a backoff. tailgaters..

I run level 2 on the Edge Race because I love the turbo brake...

I used to run level 4 and beat on the truck daily. Trans always held fine, until I bumped it to level 7 and tried to see how long it would last. Only limped after once after the turbo was installed, then I decided to build it before it happened again.

^^^Thanks for the info I will keep that in mind. I need to get around to installing my blocker plate.

Thanks for the replies guys I feel safe enough on level 4 I think I will leave it there. Guys with transgo jr. shift kits how much does that help with the added power?

I'm exactly the opposite, I tried level 4 one time, got behind someone on a 2 lane road. Went to pass them, the 5-4 downshift felt like it was slipping the whole time. RPM's going up, but I wasn't going anywhere faster. Turned it back down to level 2 after that. Basically keep it there due to the turbobrake feature and towing which I mainly do in the warm months. I must say, it's alot more get up and go than level 2 is. Chris

I've never tried level 4, figured It would be just my luck that I'd fry it.

If you fry it, just buy a new trans....it's only money....you'll make more tomorrow....

I have been driving mine on Level 4 for several months, it seems like several of you have found out it seems to get the best milage. I have passed several cars and it has more than enough power and doesn't smoke. I don't abuse it and drive it normally and have had no problems at all.

Thanks for the replies guys, just trying to get a general idea on what everyone else is doing. Still haven't totally made up my mind on whether or not to put it back down to level 3.

I run level 4 all the time due to way better MPG and EGR turned off. I drive like a sane person though.

I used to run level 4 on my stock tranny quite a bit. I could never feel it slip in level 4. It would slip on level 5 though. When I had my tranny built the clutches there was some light burn rings on the clutches.

I thought the EGR was turned off on all levels?

Not on the LMM's. Levels 1-3 the code is disabled only. On the other levels the egr is disabled.

Level 4 and up turns off the EGR....

But it can still blow open, its not like haveing a blocker plate in.

On the lower tunes you can also unplug the egr to turn it off, because the Edge is preventing the codes that you would get from that.

I noticed a huge difference once I did the plate with the low-end or lack thereof until it reached 2K rpm's. Now it's much smoother from off idle on up. I just had the EGR unplugged for the last 25K miles, only blocked for last 1K miles. I did have to take the plate out and redo it due to a leak, in just 3 days of driving maybe 100 miles, I had almost 1/8" of soot collected on the plate. Glad I have mine blocked now, sorry to hijack, but a few on here have limped an Allison on just the level 3 tune. Chris

Me too. I stay on level 2. I don't feel like changing it ever time I have to go tow my trailer, and I don't want to wreck the tranny.

I've tried level 4 only for a little while, I felt I was going to break something. I run on level 3 full time, I get 17 mpg average with mixed highway and town driving. Once the tranny is done who knows!

I haven't limped my yet.... But it's not right. The 5-6 shift at high speeds 80-100 shudders REALLY bad! I'm saving my pennys for a suncoast stage V maybe before it's toast.

I drive on level 3 unless towing. Like others have said, plenty of power for most everything. I tried level 4 this past Friday after reading that it turned off the EGR and better mileage. On the way home from a friends house on Saturday, I put the pedal down about half way at 60mph and when it downshifted it felt like it was slipping as I accelerated. I can't remember what gear it was in at the time though. I also noticed that I got that jet engine scream sooner than I do on level 3. It made me feel uneasy and I returned it to level 3 last night.

I'll wait till I can afford to get the trany built before trying the higher levels again.

Does the edge do the same for a 2006 LBZ???
