Not the vehicle in my signature, Vehicle is a 1999 Suburban, F code L65 engine, belongs to a friend of mine.

He parked the Sub late evening, Until than the car had performed well for a long period. Next morning, not able to start. Told him to check all grounds, later on he confirmed to have done this. Tried a brand new pmd, still unable to start. Hauled the Sub to the dealership, hooked up the TECH2, displayed several codes. Dealership mechanic unhooked all sensors and found out that the crank position sensor were shot. Replaced. Now, no codes and still unable to start. Dealership told my buddy that the IP is shot. Fuel all the way to the "T" valve, no fuel to the fuel lines.

Told him to double check grounds, on the pump by the PMD and by the solenoid, claims to have done this.

To me it seems unbelivable that the IP would die overnight? If possible we're dealing with a mechanical brake i assume? So far the dealership invoice him $2000 and another $4500 to have the IP replaced.

Any suggestions???????

Please chime in. Thanks.

$2000 grand in billing so far for hooking it up and repacing a sensor-is that in euro's?

look around for a diesel mechanic who specializes in in diesel mechanics including working on the 6.5...you may not be getting a diagnostician at the dealer, rather someone following a flow chart but not 'knowing' the 6.5

Did they try a new PMD after they replace the sensor?

disconect PCM for 10 mns, and reconnect it.

That way, the PCM should see the new CPS. Could be as simple as that, I hope.

If not, check underhood for ECM B fuse, fuel solenoid fuse, check they reconnect properly all plugs

Thanks so far all of you.

$2000 is USD converted from Norwegian currency (10 000 Norwegian Kroner is about $2000)

Do we have to go all the way to the ECM in the dash or is disconnecting the batteries and put the cables toghether ok.

Thanks again.

Disconnecting batteries and joigning cables should do the trick, but it seems I have better results on my side with disconnecting the ECM in the dash.

IP's dont die in their sleep overnight.
What where the codes?

Your dealers seem more greedy yet than ours.

No, shouldn't die overnight was what I thougt too, and argued my buddy away from having the dealership replacing the pump. Which again means that I'm the one that have to deal with this issue from now on. Going to take a look at the Sub tonight and see if its possible to figure something out.
Thanks again so far.
