Dan coyotekid 07-10-2005, 01:27 AM Yeah, it concerned me a little too, but I don't think it's anything to worry about. Engine temp causes major swings in pressure. I do know that the pressure was definitely turned down on the LLY's because my dad's '01 LB7 consistently has higher oil pressure using the same Delvac 1 synthetic. If I'm reading the gauge correctly, each tick mark equals 7.5 psi, right? Mine will pull down to ~40 psi when I'm pulling long grades at max EGTs with a trailer loaded. DMAXITOL 07-13-2005, 10:13 AM Try a qt of LUCAS oil stabilizer next oil change or if your down a qt. It really helps if you tow (most truck stops about $20 a gal) They recomend 2 qts for the d-max. There is a thread here (sorry I tried to find it but haven't found it yet) which was noting how you could tell if your EGT's were getting too high by watching your oil pressure. It seems a 10lb drop in oil pressure was an indicator that your EGT's were edging over 1400. You're noting how your oil pressure is lower after towing, this may be an indicator for you. The heaviest I've pulled is 11k (approx) and at that weight I can't recall my oil pressure dropping below 25 at idle and usually 60(ish) on the freeway @ 55-65 (yeah I'll admit it I drive by my gauges). If I can find that previous post on EGT's and oil pressure I'll link it. | ||
