If i were to cut my exhaust off an inch infront of the muffler and weld a turndown, would that create an egt problem because of shorter pipe?

not sure about that but you would get a black undercarriage from the smoke ):h

oh yeah, what kind of truck do you have?? need the info

Actually I think you would have lower EGT's as the gases would have less tube to travel and therefore be cooler. They would exit faster, so I think they would be lower, as for doing that under the truck, that is up to you... Could be loud under there and then as SS said, there is the smoke issue...Good luck

You might get a 90 degree angle pipe and have it stick out just in front of the rear wheel, atleast that would eliminate the smoke undercarriage issue... but to answer your question, I agree with GMC2500HD, your EGT's will be lower and lower is good!

Egts would be lower I imagine. It's way louder that way than with a full tailpipe minus muffler though. And of course the black axle...

If you run it out the side you would solve the problem of smoke on the undercarrage. But then it would open another can of worms. That smoke would get all down the side of the body of the truck. Pita to wash it in my opnion. If you want it shorter, why not look into a smoke stack out the top. I dunno just a thought. :D

If you havn't done this yet I wouldn't.

Our Solo car a LT1 Camaro, has a Flowmaster w/turndown right about where the passenger seat it. Outside the car isn't 'that' loud but inside it's unbearable.

Because it was light, and I don't street drive it I live w/it. But on a D/D NO WAY.

I had a duel exhaust built as follows,
I had a muffler shop install a cutout on my stock exhaust, engine side of my Flowmaster muffler. Out of the cutout they installed a straight pipe system for the driver side. Total cost (including cutout) for the added system was $230 as I already had the Flowmaster installed last year.
