I had 285/75/16s on my 03 with stock rims. You might need to crank your torsion bars a bit though.

Thank you for your service.

You can fit 265/75/16s without any fear of rubbing and without cranking your torsion bars. 285/75/16s, like said above, will probably require tying back the emergency brake cable, maybe minor trimming, and/or cranking the torsion bars. Also remember that if you crank, you will need an alignment.

I have some pictures of 265/75/16s on my 1500 gasser in my garage. Not an HD truck, but it'll give you some ideas.

I put 295/70-17 tires on mine with Dodge wheels. Had to crank the torsion bars a little. It's easy to do. You need a socket wrench and about 5 minutes to do it. If you look where the torsion bar runs back and stops under the driver and passenger seats there is a bolt that you can turn to adjust the preload on the torsion bars.

I installed some 305s on stock 16s on a 2wd GMC the other day and cranked the torsion bars up. no trimming and no rubbing. 305 is equal to 33x12.50s
