Well I got a tranny Gague, EGT Pyrometer, and boost gauge in yesterday.
I should have my new 4" exhaust in this week. Im waiting to install the Heath Diesel Eprom and Boost Gate mod till my sensors are in.
Anyway where is the best location to install these on my 95 'Burb w/ 6.5TD?
I was going to do the tranny in the pan by just welding in the bung I got directly in the pan.
The Boost and the EGT are the ones I have no idea where the best mounting location is.
Is the EGT better before or after the turbo?
Where is best to tap for the Boost ?
The IAT sensor is a standard 3/8NPT thread you should be able to tap boost pressure there with a Tee(no drilling or tapping).

I tapped the upper intake for the boost, Pre turbo for EGT, and there is 7/16 plug on the trans; drivers side above the shift linkage that i used for the trans temp. BTW you know you may have opened a can of worms by asking where the best location is. LOL

Is it below the fluid line? Does it have to be fluid temp the gauge reads?
thx again in advance ...
On the intake upper intake manifold there are two items that have wires plugged in the little black box is the MAP sensor and the other is the IAT sensor.

On my 94 there aren't any fluid lines on the driver side there on the passager side, maybe differnet on 95? My was right between the linkage and VSS(I think that's the VSS). When you pull the plug out it will have a small amout trans fluid on it, but it won't leak fluid all over you when you pull it out, least my didn't.

thx again everyone for the help -- I got the EGT on the downpipe and the Boost as recom here with a T on the IAT sensor --- all works great ... I'm off to create a new post to see what EGT should be ...
Im going to be doing a tranny service next month and will weld the tranny sensor in the pan then ...

The location that others are talking about for the trans temp gauge is on the drivers side up between the linkage. There is a plug in the side of the tran. This is a pressure port - used by the 'experts', so fluid is present. That's where I have mind. No drilling, tapping or MESS - the best part.
And yes, you are right, there are no lines on the driver's side.
FWIW, on a warm day, no load, 70mph, my truck runs around 185*F for trans temp. same scenario, boost runs in the 4-6psi range, and EGT (pre-turbo) about 550-600*. These are what I've used as a baseline. Still working on some upgrades so I haven't really put it thru its paces with the tandem and skid steer in tow. See my sig for the 'rest of the story'.

Trust these guys when they say pull the plug on the tranny and screw in the sensor. it took me 5mins to screw in a sensor, and as mentioned above no mess, I've welded bungs in before and sometimes you still get leaks. installing the sensor in the "test port" is idiot proof and is such a clean install you cant even see it.
the test port plug is kind of behind the shift linkage, put your hand back there and you will find it.
