I was looking on ebay and found a non egr intake off a hummer, my truck has the egr and I would like to get rid of it by putting on the HD manifold. Is there any thing else I have to do besides switch the manifold and gaskets? The other question is does this really give more power, with more power the fuel mileage should increse some correct?

I looked closer at the picture and it looks to me like the air cleaner studs are on the left and right. If i'm not mistaken my truck the studs go front to back. This is the manifold see if I am right or not [URL="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6501167560"]

The intake on a HMMWV is quite different from a truck, and I don't think you can use it, but I'm not 100%, I've seen both, but not at the same time.

Does the one you have on the truck now look like this?

Yes I think it does I don't have the truck with me right now. In your opinion is it worth swapping the intakes on the 6.2. I would also like to swap intakes on my 6.5 but due to the computer it isn't quite as easy. I did find another intake that looks like the stock J intake
Didn't have any luck finding one for my 6.5 which I am going to need because one ear is broke off, so I had to use a washer ground to fit to hold the intake tight.:offtopic:
I will look tonight if that is the same, if you find any HD intakes for the 6.5 turbo let me know please.

I would take your 6.5 manifold and get it welded, we sent one out for a customer Friday to weld an ear on, only took a couple hours.

If thats the 6.2 intake you have, then why don't you just put HD manifold gaskets under it with the EGR block off plates in them, unscrew the two bolts holding the EGR valve on, toss it and replace the bolts? You would accomplish the same thing as a HD intake would.

The hummer intake will fit your 6.2 but the stock air filter will not fit it.The hummer intakes are alot lower than the J code intake.
To me it is worth it to swap out for a J code intake. When I installed a J code on my burb before I got my Banks I did notice alittle more power.
I would get a J code intake,If you just remove the erg from a C code intake it still not as open as a J code and is more restrictive.

I looked at a hmmwv intake like that one before, and it was hard to see but seems there is only one inlet for the CDR tubes where as the civvy ones has one on each side.

yes the bolts are in a different place. you could always just turn the top cover? but if the quote above means the ears are closer to the top of the intake, yeah it wont fit.

best bet is just go for a j code. if you wait and look around, im know you can find one cheeper then that military one is going for.

I have a hummer intake in my garage. The stock filter won't fit because the outside of the filter hit the manifold before the center touches.I suppose if you made a round spacer for the bottom of the filter it would work. Also the hummer intake only has one intake for the CDR.

Maybe if you could find one of those collars that fits under the filter box like they use on the 6.5 n/a (maybe 6.2?) vans?

Don't know if yall have seen one, its just a round collar piece about 1½" tall.

The collar you are talking about is standard or at least on mine and the others that I have seen. The air cleaner base sits on it.

You also need to remove the butterfly in the left exhaust manifold. The engine doesn't need any restriction in the exhaust.
