: fuel leak
its an 85 gmc 6.2. and theres a fuel leak coming out of one of the hard lines that goes into the motor above the exhaust manifold. i dont know much about diesels. as you can tell. i think its a fuel injector or something like that i cant really see it unless you go from under neath. anywase what seals that thing? o ring or possibly just throw a wrench on it and tighten it?
sls639 05-26-2010, 08:48 PM Put a wrench on it. Don't "Hercules" it, you'll break something. But give it a good turn, about 25 Lbs. or so.
It could also be the injector, the component that the line runs into. Sometimes they leak at the middle. If the line feels tight, then it could be the injector. You will probably have to remove it to tighten it.
Also check the return lines. They are rubber and run from injector to injector. They are known to be leaky.
Diaric 05-26-2010, 11:12 PM there is no seal, they are self sealing compression nuts. sometimes you can undo and clean off and it seals. what sls639 said is bang on, inspect closely
sls639 05-27-2010, 12:21 AM "Bang on",... That's funny, can I use that? First "Buggers", now "Bang on",.. Too funny!

ok thanks. i was wondering what those rubber lines were its probably those. it just started leaking there but its getting worse everytime. is that just regular hose you can get at the parts store.
Diaric 05-28-2010, 07:54 PM its a special small hose. iamdave had a part number for the good stuff, as he tried the dorman hose and it didn't last
4320Diesel 05-28-2010, 08:51 PM ive heard of those injector line nuts actually splitting. chevyinlinesix and axiom had an issue with this on axioms 6.5 turbo van. a line nut split and would never stop leaking.
ok ill check it out but i think its that rubber hose. its been fine then all of a sudden it leaks. can you get the hose at a dealership?
Diaric 05-29-2010, 09:28 PM yup, stealership has it, same hose on a 6.5

haha idk i got some from advanced auto. just make sure its fuel line no vacuum or they'll really leak. lol
I cant get my injector to stop leaking between the cap and top, i look it apart it looks clean to i tightened it back up to 50 ft lbs and it still leaks
cub124 07-05-2010, 05:38 PM i took it apart twice cleaned it out real nice it still leaked, then changed the guts and top out to another one that had a bad base... it seems as if all as well now. The little needle seemed to be really tight in the one that leaked idk if thats why but it would jam up
