i had a women pull out in front of me and i hit the breaks hard and they went to the floor. i managed not to hit her and pumped the breaks to get them to work. brought it to the dealer and they couldnt find nothing wrong. i have drove it since and no problems. what could have caused them to fail?

Did you notice a lack of power steering at the same time? There was a recall about a switch in the hydro boost system than can malfunction. If yours is included, may want to get that switch looked at. Welcome to the Place!

I had it in the shop about 3 weeks ago for the recall on the hydroboost. Since then my brakes have not had the stopping power as before. Then the breaks failed. I didnt notice no steering problem at the time.

I had a similar problem with braking -twice.. Very slight braking effect then straight into ABS. Took it to the dealer-they said no problem with Hydroboost and no problem with my brakes! They did do a Tech 2 bleed and that has cured the problem--for now anyway. I only drive the truck a couple of times a month and am wondering if the factory brake fluid is absorbing moisture and then compressing-when hot-to air causing the problem. No problem noticed with steering. Called GM and they maintain no known problem with brakes or semi brake failures but would post mine as such.

Can or will the techs respond to this thread; GM says that there are no reports other than mine which I was told is File # 1-349177919 reported 07/14/05. The service writer at the dealer said-at first that he didn't know of any problems then later said that that there complaints but no known fixes other than turn ignition on and pump brakes to full pedal before starting engine.

Had my 04 in the shop last week, did the took care of the DIC service 4wd problem, changed a switch, complained about the brakes being mushy and going to the floor, on the repair bill they wrote that there is no problem at this time....two days ago I stopped at a friends house and the brakes went to the floor and the DIC read Service brake system....gonna try a different dealer....also the A/C doesn't run cold on 5 if its over 90...they said they looked at the TSB but did not do anything cause it was putting out 45 Degrees at the vent....they must have been in the shade.... all this money for what...

I had the same brake prob. when my truck was new and haven't had a problem since. It did the ABS thing when I touched the brakes two different times. Now it is fine. I haven't had it do it again in 7000 miles. I never took it to the dealer. It just cleared up.

Had to call chevy customer service about the BS with the brakes....since the ABS and Brake Warning lights would not come on for them they can't diagnose the problem...even though the peddle goes to the floor doesn't mean anything anymore unless the vehicle throws a code. When you want to haul a 12K# 5'er around you want brakes, not brakes going to the floor either....They will get back to me tomorrow...and the saga continues.....I guess cusomter loyalty is beginning to show a decline on my part....they have my money....
