is there any downside to doing the pcv reroute and blocking the egr, and a fingerstick with a truck that has 80k on it?

Mileage has no negative impact on either modification, except the earlier its performed, the better off you are IMO. I believe you benefit more effectively, doing an egr delete and covering the egr valve. You will find over time, unless the CAC hoses and intercooler were cleaned out, the residual oil within the system will collect on the egr valve and possibly leak outside the housing onto the passenger side head. I have seen this several times w/customers trucks wanting only block off plates at the rear of the egr cooler only. Granted, if warranty concerns prohibit you from performing such modifications, then so be it.

You will be letting your engine breathe better by letting it intake clean air by keeping soot and oily vapors from plugging up your turbo, intercooler and intake manifold. The end result is a better air/fuel ratio which means more power and more efficentcy.

Do it the gains far outweigh any issues.
