So my truck has been making the "spinning" sound every once in awhile when I start it and then I try it again and it starts. So today I put in a new Oreilly's starter and it still does it. I'm hoping I just got a bad starter so I am going to switch it out. If not, what else could it be? Flexplate? If so what vendors sell them. Thanks, Chris.

The new starter did come with a new solenoid? If not, the solenoid could be bad. You may also want to have the batteries checked to see if they are putting out enough amps. Strange things happen when the batteries start to die.

Does the "spinning" happen intermittently or more like everytime you hit the key. You can inspect the flexplate by removing the starter and then inspect the teeth of the flexplate by turning over the motor by hand.

Starter was all new, solenoid and all, both batteries were also just replaced. Yes, it happens intermittently but it seems to be getting more frequent.

Mine only does the no start spin, if I don't let the dash guage get above the first large hash mark IIRC 9Volts.

Mine does the exact same thing. I replaced the flexplate/flywheel with a new GM one AND a new GM starter. Helped for a while, now it does it still. ?:confused:

Hey there...am on 4th..or is it fifth starter here. The last one i put in was a GM starter and its made the sound only twice in last year..use to do it a helluva lot more with the other starters I had, so this is a big improvement. No rhyme or reason..have had a couple dealers inspect everything, no real answers, just know i am happier now as it is a rare occurance.
