: How are the new BFG MT's?

I currently have a set of the "old" style BFG MT's on my HD and I've gotten 43,000+ miles out of them in 5 years. They are 305/70/16's on factory rims.

It's about time for new tires and I figured that I might look into getting BFG MT's again since I got good mileage out of them and they performed well for me. I doubt I can still get the "old" style BFG MT, which I think looks better.

So has anyone had them long enough to tell me how long they lasted?

Or I may go with Cooper Discoverer STT to save money.

Agreed, I like the looks of the older style better. You can still buy them, too. Just look around at the online tire shops and eBay. They are available.

Overpriced in my opinion!

My brother has them and likes them a lot. They replaced the old style. IIRC He thinks they clear better and are better on rocks. He doesn't think the traction in the snow is as good as the previous design.

Yep. I have the cooper stt's in 37's on my 98 and they have been great but I dont have many miles on them. I paid 1300 for the 4 coopers with road hazard.

If I could of afforded it I would of bought a different tire a month after having these tires. I haven't been able to balance them worth anything. Wish I had my coopers back

I've hear good and bad about them. I think I will give them a shot since there one of the few tires made in the size I want.

Mileage are terrible for the price you are paying

I think you need to get some wider rims, I am sure you arent getting all the life out of your tires with a wide tire on a narrow wheel

43,000 miles and counting isn't good for a mud tire?

I just replaced my old set 285's on stock rims and got 60k miles out of the them and really didn't rotate them like I should have. I went right back with BFG's in a 305/65/17 with the Boulder H2 wheels and love them! I've owned over seven sets and never had a problem! Knock on wood! Mine were just over $1100 at Discount for everything.

IMO over 40K out of any tire is good on our trucks.

I am on my second set of KM2's. I have mixed opinions about them. They have worn well for me. I drive moderately easy on them. I just had some seperation issues with a couple of them that wa awfully hard on the sheet metal. I like the off road performance of them and they are ok on the street. I doubt I will purchase a third set, though.
