I have been paying to get this done but would like to do it my self now to save $$$...

Is there a how to here?
Also is there "better" filters? If so what filter and where do I get it?

I don't know about the best filter but I use WIX. How to is easy. Take out passengers side inner fender wheel well guard. You will see a big filter. Unplug the wiring harness from the water in fuel sensor on the bottom of the filter. Then unscrew filter. Then unscrew the sensor in the bottom. Grab the new filter and use the new o ring and put it over the threads on the sensor. Then put the bigger o ring on the top of the filter in the groove. Then screw it on tight. On the top of the filter housing loosen and pull out the bleeder screw and pump the hand primer till diesel comes out and then put the screw back in. Put the fender liner back in and start the truck and bam your done!!!

I've seen quite a few say go in from the fender well...I've never had to and I didnt have to pry my A/C line back either...maybe the original owner of the truck did, who knows. Anyway, I have to slightly tilt my filter to pull it out from the top, but I can do so without spilling any diesel.

You dont have to have one, but several vendors on here sell some WIF sensor wrenches that might come in handy after taking the sensor off several times over the life of your truck.

Just did mine yesterday, with the right filter wrench you should not have to remove anythng but the used filter itself.

Thanks guys... Trying to improve my MPG as I have been getting like 11 normal driving to 14 to 15 MPG if I drive like a grandma in the city I have already done the Banks ram air, banks Monster Sport Exhaust, Techni-Cooler Intercooler System is all done. But I do have 22" rims so I am sure thats not helping. :(

Just trying to improve the MPG and figured doing my fuel filter more often might help a little..

Is there any posts with a bunch of tips here that might help that don't include changing my rims as I just got new tires. lol

Replaced mine yesterday as well....I went through the fender well since I was already going to rotate the tires anyway....Gets easier everytime I replace it....I'm going to install the Nictane Filter soon. After the install I will keep the stock filter in for quite a bit longer since the Nictane and the 1 micron filter should keep most of the junk from ever hitting the stock filter....

Going through the fender well is really only needed on the LMM's cuz they don't have as much room.

I changed a friends 06 fuel filter and if I did not have the wrench to remove the water sensor I would have wrecked it because it was on so tight. He had a dealer do the filter and it reads do not over tighten. Well guess the tech didn't read very well.

When I had the stock filter setup i used to pull the inner fender as well. Removing it was the best thing i ever did. Its nice having easy access to the aux filter.
