: 1982 6.2 winnebago brave auto transmission
stornman 05-23-2010, 05:06 AM Hi, I'm new to this forum, and so far have found it very useful.
The problem i have is the gears shifting at higher than normal revs, I have replaced the vacuum modulator, now i want to replace the vacuum control or regulator or whatever it's called, that seems to be the problem, I've looked on the NAPA website and can't find it. It's the one on the side of the injection pump. The vacuum pump is OK and the winnie hasn't been used much since gearbox was rebuilt. Does anyone know where I can mail order one from.
Many thanks.
damutt 05-23-2010, 06:08 AM might help if we knew what transmission it has
stornman 05-23-2010, 07:33 AM Hi, it's a 3 speed borg warner, Not sure of the model number due to it not being here at the moment. Hope this helps. Thanks
Diaric 05-23-2010, 09:19 AM this should be the part http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carcode,1166183,parttype,5176

sls639 05-23-2010, 09:45 AM Diaric, sounds like he has a vac controlled TPS. If so then I would suspect the hard metal vac line that runs to the trans.
Stornman, does the TPS look like this one?

Hi Thanks for the reply, yes as far as I can remember it looks just like that one, if not very close.

tjgator 05-23-2010, 03:13 PM I took one off an IP this mourning, and will not be using it. Interested? I can send it to you if you want it for about $25 plus shipping.

Thanks for that. the winnie is stored about a 100 miles from where we live, so I'll need to go there to make sure it's the right part, also SLS639 has suggested I might check the hard vac tube, so if it's the right one and you still have it I'll post a request, and thanks again for your offer.
stornman 06-14-2010, 12:54 PM Hi All, Following advice from this forum I have fixed the problem for no money, I checked the hard vac line and it was clear, then I adjusted the modulator screw, screwing it outwards, then I went for a drive and "bingo" problem solved. I could fine tune it, but I'll drive it around a bit more and see.
Thanks again for all your help.
smackzed 06-14-2010, 03:32 PM My modulator had the same problem. Unscrewed it almost all the way and just about perfect.

Yes I read your post, it gave me the idea to try it. I haven't screwed it all the way out, i think if I do, it will be perfect, before I knew about this I adjusted the black plastic vacuum thing on the IP, so I think I will adjust that a little bit first. Thanks for your help.
smackzed 06-14-2010, 06:43 PM Oh boy I gave someone good advice. Glad to hear it worked for you.
