I have 35" tires on my 2007.5 Dmax w/ 54K miles on it, and my passanger rear axle bearings took a s%&t. Can you buy "beefier" rear axle bearings to handle the 35" tires?

Thanks,

I don't think it has anything to do with the 35in tires, just a bad bearing

Are rear bearings as common as front as far as going out ?

I haven't heard of rear bearings failing much either.

Has the rear hub ever been off and it was reinstalled too tight?
Could the seal have been damaged and got dirt in bearing?
Was the rear diff filled with lube to proper level?

I'd suspect something causes the failure and the bearing wasn't defective or overloaded.

Lack of lube... Has the rear diff been serviced or worked on resently?

Ditto on the lack of lube. My 07 dmax came new from the dealer with about 1 qt. in the
differential. Luckily I read on this forum about this and caught it before any damage.
One person suggested that's why the paint burns off the housing, they get hot if low
and poor lubrication to bearings. I also read here about one guy did not get 5 miles from the dealer and rear end locked up because of no gear lube.

I took the truck to a mechanic shop my buddy owns. The rear main seal is not holding and the axel and I guess it would be the rear hub that bolt together to keep the wheel on do not line up flush together and is causing rear dif fluid to leak out. I must have twisted something in the rear for this to happen looks like i'll be replacing the rear.
