got the old smoke at hot idle again. So i grabbed my ppe tuner but it will only read injector pulse width. 2 thru 7 at idle read 3.6, but 1 and 8 read .6 to1.4 erratically. At throttle all injectors read the same value. Is this tellin me anything or is it normal? I have read pulse width is just what drives the injector, can anyone explain better? Any help is much appreciated!!

I can give you my dumb dumb understanding of it...basically pulsewide is expressed in uS which is microseconds...it is the length of time in microseconds that an injector is open and delivery fuel to said cylinder...what you were reading isn't pulse width it's balance rate which I will need someone else to step in and explain

From what I gather in my current research trying to figure out what might be my trucks problem.
Balance rate is how much fuel is added or subtracted from each injector per injection event. The purpose of this is to balance out the power or amount of work that each cylinder is doing. The balance rate only occurs at idle. There can be a few different reasons for balance rates to be off such as low compression in said cylinder however it is usually a fault with in the injector.
Damn, shoulda done a search. Id swore i read it did pw.....not balance rates. If thats the case then most likely i have two injectors on there way out. Already on second set. first time at 77k, now again at 144k??.

Yeah I didn't want to break the news as I don't have an LB7 nor have I but that's definitely the sign of bad injectors...I'd look into EFILive you can monitor PW with that :D
