Hi folks. Great site and it has been an invaluable tool.
Looking at a 2001 2500 HD with approx 100,000 miles. It has had 2 injectors replaces. I have searched this site quite a bit, but have not found answers to these questions.
1. How much does it cost on average for a dealer to replace an injector? (There is no warranty under this vehicle, salvaged)
2. When they replace, do they use a similiar injector or do they put in a imporved version? If so do the improved ones suffer the same fate eventually?
Well the truck has been restored nicely and appears to have been maintained well. I am still debating wheather to go with a Duramax, Cummings or Powerstroke! The 2500 HD is currently the best deal in my area.
Well thanks in advance for any responses,
Warlo

In regard to question 2, I am of the opinion, based on reading posts from the techs on this site, that GM is on the third, or possibly 4th version of the injectors. Some of the folks here think GM is still using the same old stuff.
It appears the latest version of the injectors for the LB7 came out at the beginning of the 2004 model year. I suspect there really are not enough miles on the 2004 LB7's yet to say if the latest injectors are any good. The LLY injectors are the newest yet, and there have been reports of failures.

I was of the opinion they were using mostly rebuilds for warranty repair on the older trucks. One of the GM Techs on here should be be aable to say for sure what they do

there on the 10 update as of early 2004 seem to hold up better. injectors are about 400.00 each plus 120.00 each for lower valve cover gaskets warrenty time is 8 hrs labor cp usually 12hrs.other mis gaskets needed and coolant and oil if injector sleeves pull they are additional.

$4902.38 is what it just cost me to have all 8 replaced, at 350.00 an injector plus labor and gaskets and oil change. But the good news is that GM is reinbursing me 75% of the cost because of the 7yr 200,000 thousand miles warranty extenton on the 01/02 model LB
The gm rep voided my warranty, because of a 6 in pro comp susp lift, hypertech programmer, and K&N cold air intake system. So I went ahead and paid in full on my gm card, LOL, made a call 4 days later to the reinbusement dept, and 10 days later they called saying that they would reinburse 75% on the bill. I thought that was pretty good business decision, being as I have purchased 4 knew chevys in the past 4 yrs. I was very satisfied by there decison!!!!!!!!!!

How did they find out about your mods?

removing that tuner and intake would have given them no reason to not cover it 100%. A lift kit has nothing to do with how an engine runs so that would be a BS call on them.
