Hi,
I wonder if somebody has checked transfer pump idle pressure on 5.7l chevy/olds or know how much it chould be?

That is very interesting,
I have no pressure at the adjustment spring it's loose I can only tighten it otherwise i'll drop it.
The pressure is 20-25 psi when I'm turning the key without starting the engine?
I can't get lower than 30 psi with engine running and it don't run very good only lots of smoke.
I had to get near 40 psi before the engine runs good.
Is that a problem ?

When I adjust the pressure I can see the effect on high rpm
between 50-70 psi and the idle between 30-40 psi.
Why do I have so much pressure at idle?
What could cause that effect?

I tryed another gauge today to be sure mine is ok.
It was.....

I guess your not checking supply pump pressure of the supply pump. Duh.
Injection pump > transfer pump pressure....

You are right.
I'm trying to get as close I can get with the transfer pump pressure in the Injection pump after changing the governor arm and installing a new sealkit.
I mess it up when I was disassembling the injection pump.
I didn't notice that the hex head plug was the adjusting plug untill I got it of and the spring and piston come out.
I immediately realized that I've got the problem.

You don't adjust it at idle. Adjusted at WOT. That's so you don't over do it.
Over 120 psi and the pump will lock up.
One to two threads below flush with the top should do it.

Thank you DieselPro, that was VERY useful information :)
Now I know that I should not reach 120 psi at WOT.
Is there an idealic WOT pressure?
Or doesn't it matter if I have 60 or 110psi at WOT if my car runs fine?
Bye the way "pump will lock up" does it hang up in WOT position or what does it mean?

head will seize up at 120 psi.
long time since i did a 5.7..... maybe 80-90 psi WOT

Thank You DieselPro.
I really appreciate the answers.

Hi !
Now I know that Transfer Pump Pressure should be 40psi (not over) at iddle when it is adjusted correct.
If your pump is in good condition the pressure never goes under 37-38psi at lowest rpm you can get.
