I understand there is a new clutch pedal replacement kit available from GM to stop the squeak. Is #15120866 the correct part number? What does this include, is it the whole unit, the pedal, master cylinder, etc? Is this easy to change out w/o messing up the hydraulic system?

Thanks,
Tim

I had to change one my pedal out when I broke it. It was anything but easy. I have the actual directions that the deallership uses and unhooking and unbolting everything is the easy part. You have to turn, twist and I had to have a friend actually pry from the engine compartment in order to get the thing out. I was almost to the point of wanting to take it to the dealership for them to do it. But I finally got it. I can email you the procedures if you want but like I said that was the easy part.

I'd also like the procedure. I'm in the process of replacing mine.

kkhamil23,

Yes, if you have the procedure, please email it, I need to do mine sometime, the noise is driving me nuts. Btw, is the replacement unit just the pedal and linkage to the master cylinder or is it the whole works?

It's worth the effort. I got mine done under warranty but now I've totally forgotten about it. Now if my flywheel would stop growling...

When did the new pedal come out? I had mine replaced about 2 yrs ago, under warranty. As soon as summer time came around, the new pedal started sqeacking just like the old one. I haven't since messed with it. Is the new pedal not plastic? No more sqeacking?

#15120866 is the part I ordered. I will let you know how it works. I'm currently waiting on a release bearing before we bolt the tranny back to the engine. The one listed on All Data was incorrect. It's for the 6.0 liter 5 speed. If my mechanic can't find the release bearing I'll have to order the whole slave actuator kit.

FWIW, the new & improved clutch pedal I am referring to I saw in http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13004 post.

1BADDMAX, please let me know how it goes. Also, I thought the slave and release bearing were one unit on the ZF/6? I received the following from gmpartsdirect.com a while back when I inquired about it:

"12574147 clutch actuator cylinder. Includes bearing, seal, and hose.
For transmission option MW3. 12574147 is to be used together with part
number 12574148 clutch master cylinder."

The price seems suspicious since they list if for $67 and the dealer said it was $300, but they (the dealer) wouldn't give me the P/N of course so I don't know if it's really the correct part or not. Does anyone know?

Thanks,
Tim

The clutch pedal is now replaced. No more squeak, but it definitely has a bit of a clicking noise. No biggie. At least that damn squeak is gone in hot weather (for now!).

Yeah I wish I had ordered it from gmparts when I got the rest of the stuff. But since the truck was already apart we had to buy it locally. It cost my mechanic (with his discount) about $170.

On my truck the pedal squeaks (only heard from outside of truck or with the window down) when it is depressed and released (only when it is being pressed or released, not all the time when its pressed). Is this related to what you guys are talking about here with the pedal kit. I dont think it is because deadeyes post on the new kit was on 8/13/04, and my truck was build on 9/13/04 so it should have the new pedal kit.

The dealer lubricated "the linkage" when i last had it there, and that took care of the sqeak for like a day then it came back. What do you guys think is causing this?

Squeaking that is only heard from outside the truck sounds like maybe the clutch slave cylinder. The sound will appear to come from inside the trans. if it is.

Thanks, I think im going to have a friend pump the clutch and ill crawl underneith and try to see exactly where its coming from. I'll report back if i find anything out.

How long should it take the dealer to replace a slave cylinder, i would guess more than a day if the trans has to be removed?

My old slave acuator and the new one both squeaked a little bit. Hardly noticeable.

Mine is noticable, mainly when i shift gears with the windows down, slower speeds, next to a wall or something. the faster i bring the clutch up the louder the squeak. Like in the situation described about, when i raise up on the clutch fast like to get to the grab piont from the floor, it'll squeak. I've gotten used to it, but ill probably bring it in eventually.
