Went fishing yesterday and today. Yesterday pulled the 8000# boat with my 89 CC 4x4 dually. It has a fresh 454 with 1970 pocket ported oval port heads, headers, RV cam and Edlebrock intake under the TBI. Hit the bottom of the dyno hill on C470 at 64mph and crested the top at 53, hammer down in 4th gear (4 speed). Today used the Dmax, same test. Started at 65 mph hammer down (a bit of black smoke, the Edge is on level 2) crested the top at 67 mph. The ally shifted out of OD and held 4th to the top. The only major difference was I had my 4000# Lance camper on the Dmax.:D This new puppy pulls. Oh btw AC on, it was 96 out, juke box playing and the Lab asleep in the back seat. :ro) Caught one nice 2.5# brown today...

I hear ya man!! I have been a gas motor glasspack guy forever,,,but,,,the MAX is from a different planet!!! I havent been on a pass yet that I cant go too fast on. I just came back from Pagosa Spgs and waxed everybody going both ways on Wolf Creek!! As Mr T once said.."I pity the fool" ( that still tows with gas}LOL!!:rant:

We picked up the new 05 2500HD a few weeks ago. When we got her broke in we took her and the 5th wheel out for the 4th weekend. The wife asked me why we needed this big new truck - as I was starting up the hill out of town - I told her "Just watch"! We crested the hill doing 58 pulling that 9K load. The older GMC gas would be doing 35.

This is a no brainer in this forum, but in RV.net there must be 80 posts on this one., and they get funny. Not that I know what an 8.1 can do, so Im kinda talkin out my hinny,,bit I just cant help feel sorry for the unedjumicated folk that cant get past the smell and noise,LOL!! :beerchug:

LOL Greg!!! It made my father in law think about the MaX! He has a cherry 78 454, but admitted it couldnt hold a candle to the Max. I still love a gas motor, but ,,,,,,damn! I hate it when I switch,,,it confuses me. No wait,lets tow something!!

Hey, I had the 8.1 ally and had no complaints towing. I compared that to my 6.5 I had previously and the 8.1 was an animal, then I got the Dmax - WOW. I'm a believer.

6.5 liter?:confused: "Cough!" I didn't know GM made a Diesel until the Duramax camed out...OK, OK, I just wouldn't admit it...):h
