hey im in need of a new alternator i was wondering would it be better to go with dual alternators or a 270 amp single alternator also is there anything i need to be aware of when upping the amps?

From the standpoint of ease of installation I would go with a single 270.

I posted a previous thread about my factory volt gauge sitting at 9 or 10 volts at start-up and then after driving the truck, does the gauge very slowly get to 14+ volts. Did your factory volt gauge give you any indication when your alternator died? A 270 amp alternator sounds like the hot ticket.

No, it is requlated by voltage. The alternator is going to make as many amps, up to is capacity, keep a constant voltage. Think of it like this, it is the middle of the night and you are the only one using electricity but you are still connected to the same great big power plant that supplies your whole town when they are awake.

Ya my volts dropped below 10 and the battery light came on then it wouldn't start the next day then took it to advanced auto said alt was bad
