For those of you out there who have done it, I would appreciate some input as to what brand you bought, do you like it?, wish you got a different one? I'm thinking it's time for one as the final trick to my rig. I already have 5K Airlift bags, Rancho 9000X and the Vision 19.5's to help carry my Lance 821. I'm concerned as to weather the bags would be in the way??? Sure appreciate any help.

p.s. I'll be gone for a week starting Sat., will get back then. Thanks...

Haven't done it myself but I have seen a retro-fitted SUburban or Tahoe sway bar added to a 2500HD. It didn't look too difficult, not sure if the bags would be in the way though. The ones I saw also had the sway bar disconnects so they could get the articulation when off-roading.

There was a post a while back about the Frederico Racing sway bars, so maybe he will hop on and update the progress of the version he is building for the "lifted" trucks. Sway bars are high on my list, so I would like to know as well.

installed hellwigs on mine and the stories of lousy instructions must of given me the heads up to be more patient. the installation did go well once the proper hangers and their orientation was observed per photos. later though i chose cool duals for upgraded exhaust which will interfere with the hangers so they need to be relocated but i have not done it yet. one reason might be that i could not tell a great difference in the handling like i did on my suburbans '96 1500 and '98 2500. used hellwings/billsteins on both and got best results in the 1/2 ton burb. hope this helps

I have Hellwig which I plan to take off and will likely go with IPD. The Hellwig had to be dropped in order to service "pumpkin". Right frame clamp bolt sheared or failed (may have been over torqued with air wrench by service wrencher?). Hellwig replaced missing bracket and bolt. I'd like to have a unit with sufficiant clearence and also one which does not interfere with Banks Monster exhaust and so plan to change.

I have a hellwig one off my last truck if anyone wants it.... It will not fit on the new truck with the 4 link.

I put a helwig rear anti-sway bar on my old '99 1/2 ton silverado and after a few weeks, it ripped a chunk of the frame off. Needless to say the swaybar came off.

I installed the Hellwig sway bar. The instructions were bad copies and the pic's showed different hardware then provided. I don't like the way the bar faces the rear of the truck and clamps to the frame. I had one clamp come loose do to the thick coating on the frame. Be sure to get them really tight.

The sway bar does help alot, as I haul a 3700 lb camper and tow a 6000 lb boat. I also have the Air lift air bags and the sway bar clears them fine. I recently installed a Mag-hytec diff cover and the sway bar will not clear the cover. Now the bar sits in the shed.

When I get time, I will look into modifying the sway bar axle mounts so it will clear the diff cover. I also want to get a dual exhaust system, but I'm sure the sway bar will be an issue again.

Is there a better sway bar?

Hey, Chris - do you know who makes a bar with the disconnects? That's the only reason I haven't done it yet.

BTW- I've heard too may horror stories about Hellwig, IPD could be a brand to look at. They are $$ but seem to be pretty good.

Looks like the sway bar I was thinking of was set-up for offroad use and my not be much help for our heavy trucks but here's a link anyway:

Also tons of disconnects to choose from, here are a few:
