Hey everyone! my '85 k20 4x4 6.2 has an issue where when the steering wheel is turned far enough in either direction, it makes a banging sound and looks like my axle is moving a little bit! This is while the truck is sitting anyway..But everytime it makes that noise it looks like I'm getting a lot of movement in the front axle (when looking at the suspension from the driver's side). I must be in some kind of danger right? :) Anyway, the loud sound pisses me off and now the whole movement under my truck has made me pretty uncomfortable with doing any real driving. Any suggestions??

Thanks again Gurus!

your gonna have to jack it up and inspect all the components. i had the same issue before and it turned out to be a ball joint that was totally shot.when i rounded a sharp corner to the right it would go bang and the wheel would jerk

Jack the truck up with the jack compressing the big spring. Then move the tire from side to side ( hannds @ 3 and 9 o'colck) then try hands at 12 & 6. Tire shouldn't move much and no componenets should move more than a hair. I had the same thing and replaced tie-rod ends which sort of stiffened everything up. They're the dangerous ones that can give you NO steering ability if they go.
