: Attitude mounting locations?
2MuchFun 01-11-2004, 02:03 PM Where are you guys putting your Attitude?
The cable is only so long so I dont know how that one guy got it to the roof console...
BUT, I dont want that permanent of an installation. I want to be able to remove it reasonably easy for dealership trips.
I was thinking a thin metal L shaped piece that would fit between the dash cracks would be good... Maybe down below the headlight switch?
Any ideas and maybe vendors of a bracket or something would be much appreciated :)
FirstDiesel 01-11-2004, 02:17 PM They make an extension cable.

ripper 01-11-2004, 02:44 PM Whats wrong with just mounting it on the pillar.
GMCSLEHD 01-11-2004, 02:46 PM Here's where I put mine. From the driver's perspective, I can see a little more of the DIC than shown. Used velcro for mounting to the top of steering column behind the emergency flasher button and it seems to be holding up good. Easy to see when driving and easy to reach and adjust too. Cable is routed between dash bezel and steering column boot.

My thoughts exactly, but that new ATS billet mount for the overhead console has got to be the sweetest spot. I asked Edge about cables for that reason. They told me some discussion had taken place about offering a 9' cable, but no decisions had been made since the 3' extension is available.
I also asked how the cable was attached to the Attitude. It's hard wired to the board inside. But, it's only a 4-wire conductor in the cable so I'm going to add a 4-wire connector plug on the back of the Attitude to facilitate removal for dealer visits. You might want to think about that as well, since removing it will require pulling the cable back out as well. Edited by: Zeeb

2MuchFun 01-11-2004, 11:18 PM Ya that overhead is the sweetest look, but I decided to put it in the upper center console little cubby. ~Quick, easy, good view and cheap http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
Plus, I really like that overhead big cubby for glasses.
When I go to the dealer and remove the juice, I can just lay the attitude down on its face and throw a few papers or business cards over it
BLACKDMAX 01-17-2004, 09:05 PM Could you provide the web site to purchase this overhead console Attitude mount from ATS ?. This is the best install I have ever seen. I also would like to install in this place. I guess I will also neet to get an extension calbe for the Attitude as well.
Mark
I don't think it's on the web site, you'll need to call them.
http://www.atsturbo.com
The main page has contact info.
Extension cables can be purchased from several of the vendors here, or from Edge directly IIRC.
BLACKDMAX 01-17-2004, 09:43 PM If I use the ATS Attitude mount what length of cable extension do I need to purchase and where can I get it ?
Mark
BLACKDMAX 01-17-2004, 10:14 PM What are the two switches on the right side of the Attitude for ? Can it be purchased fromATS without the switches ?
curtisb 01-17-2004, 10:15 PM Yup, sure can. Can be order with or without. Same price for both: $45.00
If I use the ATS Attitude mount what length of cable extension do I need to purchase and where can I get it ?
Mark
The Attitude comes with about a six foot cable on it. The extensions are three feet and I think cost about $30.00. The standard cable and just the one extension should be sufficient for the overhead mount. You should be able to get them from any vendor who sells Edge stuff, or I think you can purchase them directly from Edge. Edited by: Zeeb
BLACKDMAX 01-17-2004, 11:46 PM Thanks Guys
Edski 01-22-2004, 11:37 AM Ordered the ATS mount yesterday, w/ switches for $45. They will include an extention cable for an additional $25. When I purchased the Juice/Attitude from John Kennedy, he included the 3 foot cable extension at no charge.
grasshopper 01-22-2004, 02:47 PM Man that looks awsome, Ilike it in either spot though, a pillar or that over head mount!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif
CntrlCalDmax 01-22-2004, 03:56 PM I just received my ATS mount. What a nice piece. It is machined from a single piece of aluminum. It's a steal at $45.
heartbeatcanada 01-22-2004, 04:05 PM I'm gonna guess the 2 buttons are for high idle and o/d lockout for us early dmaxs that don't have that from factory. Later Jeremy http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

tophog 02-02-2004, 08:51 PM Out of curiosity regarding console mount ...what are you guys planning to do for dealer visits? Remove tude from console?
2MuchFun 02-02-2004, 11:11 PM I finally ordered the overhead cubby mount like the one above.
I also got a new console off ebay because I wanted HomeLink so Im just going to switch consoles when I go to the dealer. Its only 1 screw and takes about 1 minute.... I'll just leave the Attitude hidden up behind the console.
JIMPRU 02-03-2004, 10:50 AM One additional question reguarding dealer visits with the attitude install. How is everyone going to explain the EGT tap into the PS manifold for the probe.
2MuchFun 02-03-2004, 11:36 AM Theres nothing wrong with having a EGT gauge, so I'll just tell them Im getting ready to install gauges...
modified 02-17-2004, 11:37 PM I would prefer the Attitude Display on top of dash, below the rearview mirror, where it is easy to glance at when driving, and it is mounted low enough where it obstructs almost no view. I would also like to avoid drilling holes in my dash. The ATS Overhead Counsel looks nice, but my opinion is that this is a poor location for visibility and safety.
I may have found a “Top Of The Dash, Juice Attitude Mount”, which requires no mounting holes in the dash. Radio Shack sells an Adjustable Subcompact Universal Phone Mount, Cat. No. 17-551, for $25.
One problem for me, is that I haven’t upgraded my Juice to the Attitude, …………YET, so I don’t have a display to test the mount. Another problem is I don’t have a digital camera to post pictures. I searched www.RadioShack.com (http://www.radioshack.com/) , but this catalog number did not come up.
Question: Does anyone have a digital camera, live near a Radio Shack, and have the will and time to get one of these mounts, and post some pictures?
The suction cup mount holds firmly to the windshield, and has a stiff, adjustable gooseneck, which is attached to an adjustable phone mount. We should be able to place the Attitude Display in the adjustable mount, where it should be firmly held. The phone mount opens 2 ˝ inches, and should grip something ˝ inches thick. After placing the Attitude Display in the mount, you gently squeeze the mount closed, and the foam rubber should grip firmly. IF this alone does not hold the display, you could always install Velcro to back of the mount and display. When mounted low on the glass, the display can be placed just above the dash, above the radio. We should be able to route the display cable under the back of the dash, next to the windshield.
The display for me is about six inches out of reach, (short arms), when sitting normal in drivers seat, but if I lean forward slightly, the display buttons should be within reach.
Sorry I can’t supply pictures. That would show it all. If you can get over to Radio Shack, check it out.
Idle_Chatter 02-19-2004, 07:06 PM I put mine on a metal clip attached to the instrument panel trim right next to my A-pillar gauges:

Is that the ATS mount painted black? I see you have a 2002, did you have problems getting it flush mounted? Thinking of getting the mount myself, but have heard problems getting it flush in our trucks.

BLACKDMAX 02-22-2004, 08:04 PM Started to put my ATS Attitude mount in today and remembered that you have to remove the back cover , slip it into the mount and and reinstall the cover. my question is are the screws that are remover on the back on the attitude long enough for the ATS mount ?
Mark
Trippin 02-22-2004, 08:15 PM Yes. I only removed the back cover as an aid to allow the cable to fit into the ATS mount. When you re-install the back cover it will close back up to the stock dimension.
BMDMAX 02-22-2004, 11:29 PM sdaver,

You can get it flush on the 2001 & 2002 trucks. I finally got mine to go in with some filing on the edges of the ATS plate. I called ATS and they told me that was the trick to get it to fit. It just takes some time and care, if you go slow and only take off the stock a little bit at a time it will go.
I pre-wired the two switches and then capped and coiled up the hot out leads from the switches behind the kick panel. When I figure out what I will be switching then I just pull out the cable and hook it up.
salmon slayer 02-22-2004, 11:57 PM I finished my installation in the O/H console w/ATS mount today. It looks really nice, and I'm happy with it, but it's not for those that want to keep a constant eye on the monitor.
A couple of points to add:
I used the 3 foot extension to go through the firewall from the engine side into the interior. I took a wire coat hanger and straightened it out. I then used electrical tape to wrap the cable to the coat hanger, and formed a nice bevel at the front of the plug which was about half an inch down from the point. I wrapped about eight inches total, and then applied some WD 40 to help it slide through. I ran it through the large grommet by unwrapping it, pulling back the piece of conduit, and making an incision at the edge of it for the plug to pass. It pushed through so easily that I didn't realize that it had gone through to the interior. Results will probably vary.
Also I found it advantagous to use the extension because after the cable is routed all the way to the console there was still plenty of working room to complete the installation easily. I didn't even try to make the Attitude fit the ATS mount without removing the back plate. That part was really easy. I took the black plastic insert out of the console, then tried to press the mount into it. It was such a tight fit that I ended up grinding a small amount of plastic out of the top corners with a dremel. It still fit very firmly in there, and looks perfect.
Other than that I pretty much did things like Trippin shows in his pictures (thanks). The EGT tap/mount went well per Hoot's instructions, and was actually an easy phase of the install. Now I'm ready for that new ocean boat this spring. You won't find me holding up traffic. --SShttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
WYO_DMAX 02-23-2004, 03:16 PM Here is where I mounted mine. I didn't think I would like it at first, but now I don't plan on moving it. I just used some of the supplied velcro on the bottom. And if I need to take it to the stealer, just pull it off and put it under the fuse box cover.

I like your mounting location. Is that a homemade bracket?
I was thinking of doing something similar, only a little to the right and hanging down over the lip of the dash bezel....just to the right of the 4x4 switches.

I like your mounting location. Is that a homemade bracket?
Yep, I bent it up out of some 1/16" steel to clip to the IP trim and painted it with the interior paint that I had mixed for my gauge pod. After the Florida run, it's nearly the perfect position for monitoring and access. Now I just have to get around to drilling and tapping the Edge pyro into the driver's side manifold.
Well,
After getting everyone elses opinion on location for the monitor, I decided to finally move it to the OH console. Now that the WOW factor is reduced and I am not adjusting it 5 times a day. Currently have it on the a-pillar, but should have the new plate and cable extention here in a few day. Big Thanks to "Con", his excellent pricing finally convinced me I CAN afford to do it. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

I have the same set-up as yours with the Isspro's/2-gauge pod. Would like to mount it similar to yours for fast removal if a trip to the dealer is needed. The ATS overhead mount looks clean and nice, but a little too far out of eyesight IMO.
I'm wondering if the Attitude pyro will fit in the Isspro pyro bushing. That would be nice and easy, but nothing usually is. Or, I'd like to see if I can tap into the Isspro pyro wires to feed the Juice box. I'd like to keep my Isspro gauges.

rickles04 03-02-2004, 05:46 PM that came from a guy that sells autometer on ebay.....cant remeber his name but i do rem he has a ebay store for autometer.....the juice mount came from good ole radio shack, a radar detector mount

A few more... is it a REPLACEMENT for the a-pillar or a 'cover' over the OEM?
Also what about price $ ?
Minn-Kota 03-05-2004, 10:06 PM I have something similar from Autometer. It had the hole for the Bose tweeter so it made it simple. Not a replacement, just an overlay. Around 50 greenbacks.Edited by: Minn-Kota

Max Owner 05-03-2004, 04:45 PM Hey, Hasslebach. Thats right where I want to install mine. I only thought about drilling into the pillar, and mounting it there.
Where did you get the swivel are bracket?
hasselbach 05-03-2004, 04:55 PM <DIV>It came in the kit I got from Kennedy Diesel when I traded in my old box. (which came directly from Edge) Its pretty light duty so I mounted the lower pod to the dashboard instead of the a-piller since the plastic is flimsy and moved too much for my liking. I am going to have a dab of silicone put at the two areas of intersect, which will really make it tight when you push the buttons.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I hope that answers your questions</DIV>
Max Owner 05-03-2004, 05:18 PM Thank you kindly, Hasslebach. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif
HPDOFNTX 05-04-2004, 04:11 PM To answer the question "what is the best place to get through the fire wall?", i have found that you can unplug the Throttle Position Sensor plug (accel pedal) on the fire wall, in the engine compartment. Then push the small grommet back into the cab. Pull the 2 piece grommet apart and run the monitor wire through. Reassemble and boom! As good as factory without the drilling hassles! AND the 3 ft extention will work with the remote overhead mount that way with length to spare!

Eddie Haskell 05-07-2004, 01:05 PM Here is a photo that "Modified" wanted to see of Radio Shack part# 17-551. it is actuallly a cell phone bracket and works pretty well except that I had to use velcro on the "holder" so the monitor would stay put, the vise type grip isn't very strong at least on the one I got. On a scale of 1-10 I'd give it a 7 only because I had to velcro, it can be placed on any flat surface and the a lever is pressed to suck the air out to adhere, pretty strong hold. This is where I decided to put it but I think behind the rear view would work as well and then there would really be no "blind spot"http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/uploads/36Z_IMG_0041.JPG

hasselbach,
How is that "included" bracket from Edge attached to your dash, velcro, silicone or what? Thanks!
hasselbach 06-06-2004, 02:14 AM I just used the two sided tape, but went to the dash and not the a pillar as EDGE recommended. Because of being tight between the a pillar and dash (monitor), it doesn't move at all, and I can see it easily while driving. Not sure how you read it when its way up in the overhead console.

hasselbach,
The supplied two sided tape on the round mount sticks ok to your dash top?? Do you know if once it's stuck does it come again very easliy to re-use? I already stuck mine to the pillar, but like you said it's a little flimsy there. Sure seems like they (Edge) could have come up with a higher quality bracket than this, to me.
hasselbach 06-10-2004, 01:21 PM Mine is still tight, goes to the dash just fine. I would think you could get the two sided tape at a stationary store. Use a bit of alcohol to prep the dash first. I bet when you pull it off, it won't work again...
SteveNorCal 06-10-2004, 01:34 PM Out of curiosity, where did you run your cable? Thru the door jam or thru the firewall?
hasselbach 06-10-2004, 02:47 PM I took the better approach (IMHO) and ran it through the little black groment plug in the firewall. (cable goes down past the fuse block at the left end of the dash, then routed neatly to the black plug (you have to pull it out to unwrap the black tape-the wires go to the gas pedal). Push the Edge's green plug through it and insert it back into the firewall.. Very sano..
SteveNorCal 06-10-2004, 03:03 PM Yeah, I saw that grommet and had planned in the future to go thru it for a much more sano install. Right now (for quickness) I went thru the door jam, had to try it out.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
Thanks for your info!
baimpala 08-13-2004, 07:14 PM Here's mine. I just got my Juice/Attitude yesterday, and had it hanging by this hole in the dash with intentions of making a cool mount. Maybe not as high tech as some, but it works for me.
It is made from a piece of 3/4" pine, cut at a 3 degree angle on both sides to make it a pretty tight press fit into the cubby hole, then I angled the front at 30 degrees out on the right and with a 10 degree cant up. Trimmed a little 30 degree corner off the right side, pressed it in, and used the velcro strip they sent with the Juice to stick it to the wood. Took about 15 minutes from getting off my a$$ to going to get the camera. I will take it back out and spray it with a flat black paint (although, I'm pretty lazy, so it just may stay in there forever.
I decided to put it here because I didn't need to be staring at it all the time since I already have gauges mounted on the pillar for boost and EGT, and couldn't be easily seen from the cockpit of another truck, but is easily within reach for changing levels and settings.

TVolDMax 08-14-2004, 09:56 PM Here's where I mounted mine. Tried the overhead mount and also down low but was to hard to see. Really like it here, can see it at a glance,to monitor EGT,easy to adjust, mount is very stable for making adjustments. Cut bracket out of a piece of 1/8" aluminum, pull IC bezel and mounted to existing screw, routed cable around IC and through firewall. If have to take to dealer just pull bezel, drop attitude behind.

redneck45 08-16-2004, 08:24 AM I just got my attitude mounted and used the ATS overhead mount, the attitude came with the perfect amount of cable to reach that position and the mount fit perfectly in the overhead hole! Routed cable through the fire wall rubber grommet, up through the fuse box, under the piller, under the headliner, and into the overhead counsle, can't see any wires unless you look up under the dash!
