: 400k 07 for $13,000?
nate_powell 05-13-2010, 09:49 PM went and looked at an 07 today. White, crew cab, loaded, leather, on star, long bed , 4x4, 6 new tires and brakes. No dents, no scratches. Thing is it has 400k from pulling travel trailers on the highway. It has original everything but injector pump. He wants 13,500 but less for cash. The truck looks really nice, and runs excellent with no quirks. opinions?

66impala 05-13-2010, 10:29 PM need more info like kind chevy or gmc, 3500 or 2500 4x4 what does it have in there for options.
Mile_High 05-13-2010, 10:32 PM That's pretty steep for a 400k mile rig.
DAVe3283 05-13-2010, 11:29 PM Yeah, even for a diesel, 400k is getting up there. You should be able to talk him down quite a bit. I'd look for one with lower miles personally.
The other side: it is a crew cab long bed, which is rare (wish I could have found one), and if it never had a programmer on it, the engine could have a lot of life left. Even so, I'd still talk him down on the price.
mmangels22 05-14-2010, 12:06 AM 07 with 400k on it???? holy schnikes
bturner 05-14-2010, 12:13 AM Wow that is high. Six new tires wouldn't sell it to me, I would try for less
carter_44 05-14-2010, 12:18 AM WAY too much money for that truck. i dont care what year it is or what new tires it has...400K miles means a smokin deal. and i mean closer to 5K and that is if i cant find any problems.
rennat_2006 05-14-2010, 12:45 AM 400k may not be a killer for the duramax/allison but youve gotta think about the front and rear differential gears, bearings, axles, all of the suspension bushings, etc.

exactly if it has been all stock for its entire life the motor and trans will be fine but the truck itself may start to nickel and dime you big time.
example: my truck has over 200K on it and the original owner is a good friend and pulled a trailer with it highway for the majority of the miles. i know it was taken very good care of. truck runs great but i have been pushing too much power to it and it is currently getting the trans rebuilt...while under there i found a bad u-joint and leaking transfer case. things like that start to add up.
like i said if you can get a really good deal on it..like $5K then grab it so that if problems arise you can fix them without having to drain your bank account because of the initial purchase price.
know a guy that grabbed an 07 dmax that had been wrecked. no frame damage and it runs and drives fine but the whole left side was smashed good. doors opened etc. but it looks like shit. truck has about 150K on it and he grabbed it for $5K even. he has had to make some small repairs but in all he has an 07 dmax that runs great but looks like shit and has maybe $6K in it.
ar077 05-14-2010, 09:35 AM A vehicle is a commodity that is consumed. The body and frame may be good (depending on where it's from) but whoever buys this truck should be prepared to replace the drive train.
floriduramax1 05-14-2010, 09:48 AM With 400k it's very hard for me to believe it has original EVERYTHING! Can you do repairs yourself? Is it leather and loaded? I would assume with 6 tires it must be a dually. What is his lowest cash price?
NICHOLS LANDSCA 05-14-2010, 12:40 PM Too much $$$ I just looked at 2 trucks on Tuesday one was an 04 with 178k and the other was an 07 with 225k both were CCLB and both were $15,900
nate_powell 05-14-2010, 09:50 PM i was thinking of offering him 10k cash. Its a dually chevy. I already have an 02 cc sb and i would keep my current one. The only time this one would see action is pulling a 33' camper with a 16' landscape trailer on the back. I think if i completely change every fluid in it i should be ok for some time.
sdimekasper 05-14-2010, 09:58 PM too many miles for that price, id give him 2k AT THE MOST. it might be in great shape but that is WAY too many miles. highway or not.
