I just turned 5000 miles on my 05 GMC 2500HD D/A. I had the tranny flushed and a new filter installed, the fuel filter changed and the oil and oil filter changed. I did this as I want to go on a 5000 mile regime. At every 5000 I change oil; every other 5000 I will be changing fuel filter and spin on tranny filter as well as the oil and oil filter.
Since the tranny flush I have noticed my tranny gauge temp seems a bit higher. was usually below 150 solo and up to about 175 towing. Now seems up to 150 solo and just under 200 towing. I must admit that the temperatures are higher at this time and I was in a warmer area. I cannot imagine that there would be a change due to the flush but thought I would ask the group.
Thanks

Cut your old fuel filter open and see how soiled it was. I planned to change mine at 10,000 mile too, but unfortunately I was left stranded at the side of the road at 8,700 miles. I cut the old filter open and it was totally black (used up). I'm doing 7500 mile intervals on them henceforth.

Make sure you use good diesel fuel from a reputable station. High traffic (especially from large diesel trucks) is good. I also suggest getting a secondary fuel filtration (nicktane.com).
I also change my fuel and allison filters at 10K miles or every other oil change. I can't comment on the temp difference since when I had mine flushed it was getting a suncoast level IV installed and synthetic fluid as well as the Mike L. tranny cooler. Mine actually runs a lot cooler now than it did stock. The upgraded tranny's tend to run hotter than the stock ones.

Could you tell me more about the Mike L Tranny cooler. Where I can get it and cost. I tow a large trailer and need good cooling.
Thanks

You can PM Mike L. and he can give you the details or call him at Inglewood Transmission - you can find his number in the supporting vendor list. I just put mine on this past weekend, fluhed the trans with mobil 1 and put on the deep pan.....Bill
