I posted this a while back and finally I brought it in to the dealer to get the parts installed.

They replaced a "wire" in the seat (mechanical wire, not electrical).
The part number on the RO is 12483538, although I could not find a match on gmpartsdirect.
I drove the truck only about 2 miles since the part was replaced. It used to "pop" all the time in the lower back section of the seat. I can still feel a subtle poping in the upper back section but the lower back poping feeling seems to have gone away. Again, only 2 miles of driving. It it comes back I'll post another follow up.
The tech said it was "worn out". Without any clue as to what this mysterous wire is I'll have to just take his word for it.
