I am replacing the fuel pump on my 82' 6.2l and I have gotten the front bolt off but I cannot seem to be able to get the backside bolt off. The only way I have got onto the bolt is by taking off the tire, using a small 3/4 inch breaker bar and going over the frame but I cant manage to move my hand to turn it.
Does anyone have any advice about taking it off? I can use all the help I can get.
Thanks,
Sean

Yeah, Bolt it back on and disconnect it and put an Electric one of a 93 6.5 TD. The mech ones are junk.

dont be a pain kenny. i used a universal joint on a ratchet and a regular socket. nothing else. didnt remove the fender or anything. and i used that way to pull the damn pump off 3 times! so its proven to work. also during reasembly use tons of grease on the push rod to keep it up in the block while reassembling. makes life eleventybillion times easier!

i use an impact and a universal. even if you went electric, removing the mechanal pump is important as they die and leak oil when they keep going without pumping fuel

I'll remove mine when I put the plate on for the oil return....:D
I really despise the factory Mech LP's I found them to be the root cause of alot of hard starting issues on 6.2s. A factory GM 6.5TD one is flow on fail and a DB2 CAN pull it's own fuel. It won't run good and won't climb any big hills but i did get home driving real easy. I personally love the Raptor on my CUCV but that LP is way too much pump and way too expensive. I put a 6.5TD one on my Burb. If you get fuel line repair kits from NAPA they come with the right o ring fittings for the LP and can be compression spliced into existing metal 3/8 line for a nice factory look.
ME a Pain ?? Anti Social maybe but a pain is trying to change a dead mech LP on the side of the road...Elec much easier..
