Saw a 3500 Duramax on a car lot and it wasn't a dually. Salesman say's they started making them a few months back. Anyone else seen one or have a picture of one?

Have seen them more then several times...Chevy just caught up with the other 1 ton SRW makers..Only difference is that Chevy is better then the Ford or the Dodge.

New to me, the one I saw I believe was "not" a HD. What is the difference?

They are 3500 SRW's (not 3500HD) and were new for 2004.5 (LLY). The configuration is limited. Believe 2wd or shortbed are not options. I had to order it, and got one of the first ones in the country.

They have 265 tires on 7" wide steel rims, and more leafs in the back like the dually.

GM came out with the 1ton srw in 04. There are small differences between the 2500HD and the 3500srw. extra leafs in the back, factory tires are 265's, you get the plain jane wheels, no upgrade to the nicer one like on the HD. The come in 3 body configureations CC/Long bed, Reg Cab/ Long bed and Extend cab/Long bed.

Is there a benefit in the 3500 SRW over a 2500HD? I am curious because I may look at buying one over a dually. The one I saw is stickered at around $37,000.00.

You should be able to handle more bed weight with the 3500 srw than the 2500 . You only wear out 4 tires on the srw vs 6 on the dually :) If you are going to haul a 11+ ft slide in camper the dually is the way to go.

They're listed as something like 9900 GVW, while Duallys are 11+....

When did they quit making a SRW 1 ton? We had a 95 1ton 2wd reg cab. I thought they'd been making them all along - they just weren't very common.

Sure--the dealer where I bought my Dually had a number of them setting there waiting for a new home.....I looked it over at compared it to my 2500 HD that I traded in....looks like a 2500 with a couple more leaf springs.....

bas4241 says it. The main dif is the GVWR. Other than that it is a 2500HD with heavier springs. There may be a dif in brake size also. I looked into all this last year but my memory is over crowded with so much knowledge of other things. HA!!!!

They have made them for years, I have bought many for company trucks though out the years. Here is why I bought them 1.GVW and 2. employees that do not use the the mirrors.
