I have had a few powerstrokes and have done the turbo, injectors, lift pump, tranny etc upgrades and have kept up with the duramaxes and cummins around town.

Recently sold my truck and looking into making another fast truck. My question is... If you do the major upgrades like i have listed above on the 6.4 and the LMM who is going to have the better HP/TQ numbers and 1/4mile times? I have seen some 600hp 6.4s on stock trannys holding up good but also saw them loose to some LMM's with less HP due to the weight difference.

I only tow a 6 place snowmobile trailer in the winter and not much in summer so the whole IFS doesnt mean much to me. I would end up doing a soild axle conversion eventually anyway.

If i got a 6.4 i would run the tranny until it broke then put a suncoast in. With a LMM the first thing i would do is drop one in since i think they are really only safe up to 450hp or something. Also wondering if spartan can do some custom tunes like DP did for me when i get aftermarket injectors, turbos etc?

So basically what i am asking is what truck can run faster on Fuel only with the major upgrades.

Thanks for the help

(also curious about what the 6.7 in house might bring, saw spartans straight pipe video. that beast sounds like a cummins at idle and on take off... i dont know? haha)

The 6.4 is a beast on a tuner/fuel only. The new 6.7 is showing tons of potential already.

Spartan might do custom tuning, might want to call them.

Why waste money to do a straight axle when Ford already comes with one unless you just want a GM truck? Just asking.

Seems like most of what you want is in a Ford and some other aspects are GM.

Tough decision.

Why do solid axle if it is going to be mainly a daily driver. Dont go with ford just because of that because if thats really what you need look at dodges and fords to began with. The ifs holds up well. If you took the money it would cost to do a sfa swap and put it into the ifs you would be better off. Those solid axle trucks i.e. ford dodge ride like crap compared to the ifs gm's. That is my.02 worth take it for what you want. I also think the lmm with a tranny, lift pump and efi would take a 6.4

we have a new 6.7 on the farm and i must admit GM needs to step it up. That 6.7 runs like a $^&%$. it would eat my LBZ even with the tuner turned up.

Considering the LML has more HP, more torque than the 6.7, I'd say GM has already "stepped it up" and then some!:p: I saw the YouTube posts, of the 6.7, nothing great from what I saw. If the 6.7 was really "flooring" it from a dead stop, saw nothing great about it. IMO, all three diesel trucks today are a beast when it comes to power, none really put another to shame, it's all about what you like/dislike about the truck's functionality, placing of control knobs inside the cab, and looks of the truck. Cuz in reality, you can make any of them fast. I chose my LMM due to it being basically an LBZ with a DPF which I can take off pretty easy. The 6.7 CTD, and 6.4 Ford were completely new engines, only reason I didn't look at them. Today, I would consider the 6.4, but not the 6.7 CTD, I don't like what's around the motor. I really like Fords interior and space on there newer trucks. Chris

Dodge is seriously gonna have to step up the Cummins 6.7, since the LML and the Scorpion both have around 400 hp. Cummins still has 350. :D
