I'm thinking about purchasing a dually but wonder about tire sizes, etc. Believe the stock tires are LT215/85R16E's but what else can I use while keeping the rest of the truck stock? Will LT265/75R16E's work and if not what are my options on tire sizes and/or mods? Suspect I must also use same size tires front and back, correct?

To run a 265 you`ll need to run spacers between the rear tires. Most is running Fred`s 2" spacers. I'm running a 12.5" which is bout a 315 wide tire with a 2" spacer. You dont have to have to same width tires but you want something pretty close to the same height. Some people do run like a 265 in front and 215s in back.

Check my signature. 1.5" spacers would be the perfect spacing in my opinion, but 2" is fine too. I went with 2" because I did not want to have to grind my studs off .5" to accomodate the 1.5" spacers. I figure that there may be a pointin the future that I would regret that.

265s work and do not rubor require any suspension adjustments (cranking bars shaving valances, etc) I got my Hankooks for a great price through Discount and they look pretty sweet and ride well too.

You will find that everybody for the most part here runs Fred's spacers. Do a search on wheel spacers or freds spacers and you will find plenty of reading material.

I run 265/75/16 on mine and have no issues other than I can not get the pressure low enough to have the rear tires make contact across the whole tread. I had mine dropped to 40psi and my BFG AT KOs still were riding on the center. I am running them on factory steel rim 6.5" so maybe if you got 8" rims it might solve some of the problem. I run 55psi while towing 14K camper and still the whole tire not touching all the way across. O ther than that I like the way they look and ride.
Some people run 235/85/16 in rear and 265/75/16 in front and they look great too and would solve the tread issue but can not rotate. Fred's spacers all the way!

There's a rear picture in my garage that shows the distance with my 245/70/17s. They replaced the stock 225/75/17s.

That's exactly what I'm running..

i keep buying other peoples takeoffs for little amounts of money off this site that have brand new tires and wheels hahahaha The 215s look like a** but 100 bucks a piece for a decent tire is nice.. Expecially if you do alot of miles.. When/if i do need to buy just tires i will probably go with the 235's.. dont want the spacers or crank anything...

Stock tire size equals no spacers, no speedometer error, no transmission relearn, no problems but as someone will point out it looks stock. You can also rotate all seven tires which will give you the best tire wear but it does take some elbow grease. IMO

PS if you get a 4 wheel drive the front and rear need to be the same size.

I have 235's and now my speedo reads correctly. I had 20K on the stock 215's and it read fast, now it's correct (within 1 MPH). I run spacers cuz I dont like to rub when pulling the 5th wheel. I may go to 245's next.
