hey everyone - newbie here. I am currently looking at getting a new gooseneck horse trailer and need to install a new gooseneck hitch in my new truck. What are others using and why? Thanks

B&W turnoverball. It's great. 7500lb tongue weight, 30k trailer weight rated. Plus I can still haul plywood, sheetrock, mulch, etc in the bed of the truck, should I so desire.

I second the B&W Turnover ball. Very well designed and easy to install. Has a companion 5th wheel attachment if you ever need it.:)

This sounds cool. A fifth wheel hitch that’s easy to install. Where can I get one?

I opted for the Reese Signature series. It involves a seperate install kit that is basically 4 holes in your bed that either a Gooseneck (30k rating) or various Fifthwheel hitches (15-20something k) latches into...works slick...comes with 4 plugs to make the holes flush with the bed.:cool2:

I have a Curt Quick Goose. The ball pops up or down with 2 levers in the left rear wheel well. I do not have to get into the bed except to hook up the safety chains and wiring plug. Down everything is below bed level. 30000 lbs tow capacity. Very clean looking. Nice peice.....Jack

B & W by all means. just got my 2500HD a month or so back and the first thing i installed was the B & W and spray in liner. i also pull a 3 horse slant load with LQ and is wonderful. also as a next step put in a prodigy brake controller. also the best i have used.
Good Luck and Happy Trails:)

B&W, great set up and easy to add 5th wheel setup if you have to without any drilling and mounting brackets

JUST FOR THE ICING ON THE CAKE
B&W By far the best.
installation is a quick and easy. Only one hole to drill for the ball and on newer trucks I believe 03 and up, one heat shield to cut out. Otherwise with the new hitches there are no holes to drill in the frame.

I agree. I pull my 18000-20000+ lb Trailer with the remove a ball hitch system.

When you say easy to install. from start to finish a coupla' hours? I may need therapy after cutting a hole in the bed of my 06. As far as the hole, my biggest fear, (other than the little woman) is being off a little , pretty easy to do?

The hitch comes with a pattern to use to cut the hole....just measure twice cut once.

B&W is the only way to go. I was in an accident about a month ago coming home from a pull in Mendota, IL. It was foggy and didn't see a T road, ended up going down and then up a 6 foot ditch with a 25 trailer and my 03 CC duramax on it. Needless to say I totaled out the 2004 CC duramax with the B&W. The trailer went through the back of the cab, truck did not have a straight piece of sheet metal on it, but the B&W stood the test of time and held together, the neck of the trailer was the weak link!! It snapped like a twig. When I got the truck home I pulled the ball out and hung it in the shop to use as a spare, did have a scratch on it!!!!
