If its a stock turbo for a 02 or 03 its not a Garret its a IHI.

Anything is possible but you'd have to gate it down severely. A stock GM6 or 8 pushes about a whopping 7lbs, and an IHI over 20lbs in stock form. Put that to a 6.5 and it'll be the last day that truck ran. ;)

Not totally true. My stock GM-5 on my 6.5 will hit 15+ with a turbomaster, and it's hit and held 17 psi before. Is it efficient up there? Hell no it's not, but it will do it.

My friend is running a Holset HE351VE VGT turbo off a Cummins 6.7 on his 6.5 and with the VGT wired open it runs 15-18 psi max. With a working VGT setup that HE351VE probably runs 30 or so psi normally on a 6.7, however i'm not sure what stock boost levels on a 6.7 are.

The gm-x series Borg warner/IHI turbo's are not very efficient at all, hence the 15 psi limit everyone talks about. That's where IAT's go through the roof, the backpressure is insane at about 40 psi or so and bad and expensive things start to happen.

Like I said above, anything is possible. Would I do it, no. Especially on a stock, reasonably high mile'd truck (not saying yours is, but most are these days). I've always loved 6.5's, had many, will probably get another, but they are not the strongest things around. Infact, probably one of the weakest as far as hard parts are concerned. They do the job. Start messing with them too much and you're asking for problems IMHO.
