Hello, I've got a 2002 2500hd dmax that last year one of the straps broke just before the recall came out in April 2004. It caused the tailgate hinges to get out of alignment and the one strap that held the bolt on the bed got bent also.
I got a letter in the mail about a year ago saying that the recall was coming. But as yet I've not recieved a notice of the recall. Well for a year now, I've not been able to use my tailgate very much because of the defective strap, so I decided to take it in anyway. They punched the VIN into their computer and it did NOT show a recall notice for my VIN.
What's up?
I seen of a whole lot of 01's, 02's and 03's that have the recall on their VIN. I still have the broken straps and I'm sure there not the SS they're replacing them with.
